Alabama fan talking about Tuberville firing. Said he lost the passion. His thoughts on their next coach was CPJ if they could lure him away.:laugher:

Teams now wish they grabbed him when they did. This is looking more and more everyday like a monumental move by DRAD.

Four things.

...they never would have grabbed him if he was still at Navy. GT success has been the proving ground for the BCS conferences.

---DRad wanted Muschamp first...thank God it got blocked. So....he got a little lucky as well. DRad is extremely happy with PJ...beyond belief.

...thank God for great athletes like Dwyer, Jones, Cox, and Nesbitt on offense to make a lot of big TD's instead of just big plays even when blocking was not there. Also...thank God for the defense to buy us time to get this offense rolling

...the future looks quite bright...next year could be huge.

Why isn't AU looking to bring Muschamp back? I know he is "head coach in waiting" for the next decade at Texas. But AU should be a better job than Texas DC for 10 years.

Perhaps Muschamp is familiar with how things are run at Auburn and wants no part of it?

They are looking at Muschamp, pretty heavily. They'll interview him for sure.

I'm not so sure that Muschamp was DRad's #1 pick as he was DRad's "in my back pocket" fallback pick. But I don't really have anything to base that on.

The party line is Muschamp did the head-coach-in-waiting thing because his family really likes Austin and his kids really like the school they're at. If that's true, and it wasn't just Muschamp doubling his salary, then he's not a likely fit for Auburn.

I still think Muschamp would have been good for GT though. Within a year after he looked to be GT's coach, Texas is apparently ready to make him their coach if needed. As good as CPJ? I have no idea, but he still would have been a good choice IMO.

I can tell you emphatically the Will Mus was never in the mix at Tech. So how do you guys keep coming up with WM being a serious contender for the HC job at Tech?

Apparently, Auburn is looking at both Muschamp and Jimbo Fisher. I can see Fisher leaving FSU too, especially since Bowden's supply of unicorn blood doesn't seem to be dwindling. I wonder if this whole head coach in waiting fad may be an excuse for leverage and bargaining your way to a better head coaching job. I'm sure this is something Bobby Petrino can jump on right now.

I think the whole Johnson coaching at Auburn thing is a bunch of message board wishful thinking baloney.

Foggy is spot on!

Anyone who thinks a graduate of the University of Georgia will ever be the head coach of Georgia Tech's football team does not understand Georgia Tech history and culture.

I don't care who it is there will never be a UGA grad selected to be the HC at GT. Just ask Mac McWhorter.

You might think that is stupid but you are just not a real Tech person if you don't understand.

Go Jackets!

Hilarity:

Fisher goes to Auburn. Bobby Bowden retires next year. Georgia has another "down" year and we beat them. Richt goes to FSU. Georgia hires Muschamp.

We win forever.

While I personally believe this, and hold it very true to my heart, I can see a series of events that could lead to this happening, but it would involve a thorough domination of Georgia for a decade or two first. Muschamp after Gailey may have been looked into, but at the time, would never have worked.

We got a better deal anyways.

I heard from John McClane in Houston that Muschamp already told Auburn no.

We won't hire a Georgie grad as HC but we'll allow our current HC to hire a Georgie grad to be QB/B-backs coach?

I heard he took a private jet there, sexually assaulted Aubie, pissed on a statue of Pat Dye and then told them no.

I think you're exaggerating. How do I know? There is no statue of Pat Dye. The rest sounds plausible, however.

thank GOD this didnt happen. As Muschamp said himself during the recent press coverage of his move to super assistant and future coach, he is probably not ready to be a HC anywhere yet. especially someplace like Tech where you have to fight the faculty, have a small and whiny fan base, and higher academic standards than he has EVER been around (especially as a player - how would he relate to it? "well, just tell the prof your on the team" wont work)

he is a great coordinator that fires his guys up along with the Xs and Os, but he still has to learn the manager part, IMO
