Can I ask everyone for their opinion about this

Coach Gailey, from what I could see spent more time in Debo's face for one half of one game than he was in Suggs face the entire freaking season! Why was this? What did Debo do to upset Coach Gailey that Suggs did not seem to do all year. Visually, It does not appear Coach Gailey treats his Quarterbacks equally (I am not speaking of race either!). Coach gave Suggs so much slack all year that I can't finds words to describe his actions. But Debo, from what I could see had Gailey in his face every time he got back to the sideline. Any opinions?

It was noticable to me too.

More anger in the looks Bilbo was getting. It could have been that the way the game was unfolding at that point anyone would have gotten the same.

But, I have to admit, my opinion on Bilbo has changed the last few days. Now, I blame Bilbo for his performance. If he would have been more motivated he would have forced himself into the first string and gotten some practice reps. Also would have ignored the coach, and put himself in some of our earlier games so he would have been better prepared for the bowl game; like Billy Lothridge did.

Gailey didn't put D'Bo in a situation where he could achieve... What did he expect???...
Let me ask anyone... If you have less than 9 days experience in a major corporation and suddenly on one particularly bleak afternoon the CEO comes to you and says "fix it" what would your chances be???
Anyone??? anyone??? Buehler???...... etc...

Thought so... Gailey dug his own hole this season now he's blaming an inexperienced QB for these problems???
Anyone??? anyone??? Buehler???...etc......

why do you guys bother to see the games if all you are hoping and wanting is to find negativity.

could it be that Gailey was giving positive feedback to Bilbo?

have a hands off approach .. this guy doesn't know how to coach

be hands on with a young QB .. this guy doesn't know how to coach

if your opinion on the coaching skills of Chan Gailey or lack thereof is fixed and cannot be swayed, why do you bother to come here and post negative thoughts? what purpose does that serve?

by coming here and posting negative thoughts and decorating them with barfing icons .. you're not going to improve Gailey's coaching skills are you?

you all believe that Gailey will run this program down to the ground. next year .. we will lose almost all our games for sure. if that happens, Gailey will get fired .. or "honorably resign" as beeware dreams about every night

in a year it will be done right. your posting negativity will not bring the end of next year's football season any closer.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">You're exactly right, ylojk8, these folks see negativity no matter what. And they say that those of us who don't are "lukewarm" fans.

Somehow or other, this way of thinking pleases and satisfies them. Some of them aren't even stupid.

I don't get it either, but I guess it takes all kinds. As a friend of mine from Chicago used to say, "To own his each."

It's simple human nature. Trying to find something positive to say, or at least constructive and proactive is pretty tough for some folks, but give them an opportunity to whine and complain and they fall all over themselves spewing forth negativity.

Some people are just really happy being miserable. That's kinda sad, really.

statelinejacket .. lol .. in my "humble" opinion, you are a waste of bandwidth anyways ..

why go through the effort of quoting my post and waste more bandwidth when what you have to say to me doesn't have anything to do with it?

oh and one more thing statelinejacket .. never make a deal with the devil!

I like it A LOT! Chan tried to help Bilbo more in one game than he did with Suggs all yr.
Remember Friedgen? He'd grab that facemask to hold em steady & be spiiting while he was yelling in their face. When a QB messed up he had to face Big Ralph as soon as his foot hit the sideline. Golly, I remember Hamilton saying something to the effect that 'the hardest thing to do was to face the Big Man when he messed up'.
The real question is 'Why the heck didn't Gailey get in Suggs' face even once'?????? Who knows, a real butt chewing in front of the dressed out team might've done some good for AJ.
Seems like Coach Gailey wanted Bilbo to improve much more than he ever wanted Suggs to. Bilbo's ints were, at least, thrown to the right receiver in the right area. They were just underthrown, as he had the right man in the right place. I think Gailey sees more to come from Damarious than he does from AJ.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">I liked it too, but I don't know about "tried to help Bilbo more...than Suggs...." It could be that Gailey is subtle enough to treat different players in different ways, according to what he thinks is helpful.

I am a FOCer, of course (and my wife is still delighted, or pretends to be), and wear the rosy gold-rimmed glasses; but I think we're going to see a lot of good things in the Gailey years.

We don't know the situations with both these young men. This is all pure speculation, but interesting to hear the thoughts in this thread.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">I could have phrased it this way also. I did not say Gailey's treatment of Debo was destrucrive because I agree with you about Fridge and Hamilton. I did not say cutting slack was the right thing only why cut Suggs an infinite amount of slack but was willing to put it to Debo for his mistakes. All these posts about seeing nothing but me seeing nothing but negativity are nothing but pure bullshit because all I ask was about any opinions on what visible to all of us.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">Thank you.

I noticed him working extensively with Bilbo also. I couldn’t decide if he was trying to do his job and actually coach a player or if he just has that much dislike for Bilbo and was using the opportunity to publicly humiliate him and try to shut the fans up who wanted Bilbo over Suggs. Regardless of the reason it was nice to see our coach actually do something he was hired to do – coach

You can look at it in many ways ..... one CCG deals with each player acording to their personality traits (how they respond )two he decided to start trying to coach ,on and on either way it was nice to see a little life in the man!! a little too late imo

Bellyseries & others:

Even though we disagree on Gailey, and it seems to me their are about as many on both sides of the issue. We all want Tech to win.

I hope Gailey is back next year and we have a very successful season. Then we won't have anything to disagree about....well as much any way.

Frankly, I don't read these postings looking only for support for my own opinions. I value all opinions here and often my perspective changes from the dialog.

Winning will make us all Gailey mashers, well at least supporters.

BTW, I expect we will lose a few and I can still be supportive, if the play calling looks sound and the kids are giving 100%.

Do I like CG no not really, do I dislike CG no not really. He's ours like it or not! We need to get behind him, support him for the betterment of Ga Tech period. We can not let the BW et al of this world get the true Tech fans down. I am beginning to think some people are happy with the state of affairs at the Flats. They are happy being miserable and that gives them vent to yell, scream etc, then they feel justified.

This is a thought provoking post.

After thinking about it, Its possible that Chan just snapped. To me, Chan had the look of a man finally giving in to a year of frustration with the whole thing, and more specifically with Bilbo.

I think Chan believes that DeBo is a talented athlete that just did not apply himself this year, and did not play him because of a poor work ethic. The style of coaching he received on Tuesday was probably good for both of them.
I realize I am drawing conclusions based on assumptions, but it fits IMO.

The one thing that CG has done an exceptional job of is keeping us guessing.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">"Happy being miserable". This phrase and others like it are a favorite of the pro-Gailey crowd in describing the anti-Gailey group. Why is this? I paid $250.00 to have the AJC's sports headlines professionally matted and framed (with my ticket stub) from Nov. 19, 1998 when Tech beat Georgia to end the 7 year nightmare. The exhliration from that victory over the Dawgs will be with me as long as I live. Does that sound like someone who is "happy being miserable"? I sure hope not. Then "happy being happy" would likely put me in the poorhouse.
