Can you say........

Don't get too excited just yet. Confirmation seems a little slow. He may not have been ready to make his committment public just yet.

Please Stand by...

Mustang, you must be a Scout guy who is in denial that Scout got scooped. Its funny, every year someone breaks a story on a commit and if the guys at Scout didn't do it first, they all act like we shouldn't be too excited because they haven't confirmed it. Like until they give their blessing then it just doesn't count.

...Definitely not a Rivals guy! Actually, I am an ESPN guy. I do use the Scout profiles first, and then I cross reference that information with that on ESPN. I have an ESPN insiders account. Unfortunately, ESPN's updates are always behind. But that can be expected since they cover all sports at all levels.

I was just saying not to get too excited, because this commit was a little unexpected. I read an interview with him just a week or so ago and he didn't even have a list at that point. I knew that we were in the running, as we were one of the few that had offered. However, I kind of expected FSU to swoop in and get a quick commitment from him. Nonetheless, I guarantee that none of the recruiting services would of had this guy as one of our next 10 commitments.

This is an outstanding get. I hope it is confirmed, although I wouldn't expect the AJC and the Orlando Sentinel to print it if it were not.
Peeples has phenominal talent. I would love to see him as a return man.

Rivals is reporting it as well. I think it's safe to assume that he indeed committed if all of these sources are saying so.

Before we start celebrating, remember February 2008 is a long way off and as we all know: a lot can happen.

But let's focus on the positive: great grab for our Yellow Jackets!

Rivals has a full interview with him from this afternoon...as well as photos from his practice. He is quoted as saying he is committed...and gives the reasons why. He also had offers from LSU and West Virginia. Clocked at 4.31 in the forty...and a 10.71 in the 100m!!!

Rivals does have a much deeper database than Scout...many more players...and many more updates. Scout has a better message board.

I like both sites and hit both...I want them both to do well because that is best for the Tech fans.

Some people get too wrapped up in the "competition".

I'm going to join one of the premium sites soon. Which one do you guys recommend for Tech fans? Scout, Rivals, or ESPN? I think they're all about the same price, which one is the best quality?

Not a fair statement BOR...

I posted the contents of my interview w/ peeples on the inside board before anyone had quotes from him (except he stated he wasn't committed... I can't just run with that). We didn't get scooped at all... we all get the info now at the same time. From there it's just a matter of when and how you want to present it. I chose not to run w/ it since the kid directly told me... not commited, no favorites. Obviously he just wasn't ready to announce at that time of the day. Later on he was. You've known me a long time. Give me a little credit man!

GTfanNBama - give gojackets.com a shot... i don't think you'll be sorry you did but I admit to being biased! most/all of these guys are there too.

I though we already had Jamal Evans, well at least this guys 40 seems faster.

Evans will be a junior when Peeples gets on campus. Evans will be a senior when Peeples is a R-Fr.

My main issue wasn't about having two similar backs, just having another back like Lil Mal who along with him brings the extra questions that a back of his size brings. I remember all of the debates about Lil Mal and how his size would affect his blitz pickup ability as well as his endurance after taking all the hits running between the tackles. I just wonder about another recruit like that having what seems like a physical disadvantage coming in and competing for playing time in the most physical of the skill positions.

Evans was probably the most durable back coming out of the state of Texas. His durability has never been questioned.

Also, from what I have seen and read, he is good at catching the ball out of the backfield. Mix that with Earls' speed in the slot and Thomas' size on the outside. I would love to see us land a blue chip TE to go with this group...WOW!

Scout is the best for the money, only because of the active Insiders Board. I just like giving MasterB a hard time. I like Scout, I think they evaluate more players and overall they have more to offer because the message boards are better and more active. That said, as far as the recruitniks go who follow this stuff, I think Brandon at Rivals is one of the best. He always hits some pretty major scoops.

Two years ago it seemed that Rivals scooped Scout a lot more times than not. And last year it seemed Scout scooped Rivals a lot more times than not.

But I'm addicted to both boards.

Contact, unfortunately, I don't know if Gailey has shown a tendency in his career to use all the weapons afforded to him. Mike Cox didn't get one carry last year and rarely did we see Reshaun Grant in the backfield as a different option from Choice. I hope that the new OC uses a variety of different looks and personnel.

While I agree that some guys have been under-utilized or used incorrectly, I think their have been other factors during Gailey's tenure that have forced him to use guys the way he has. Earlier (prior to last year) the offensive line was smallish, less experienced and often injury-riddled - that forced him to use the TEs and FBs to help with protection. And it also forced him to stay with bigger backs that could shake tackles behind the LOS & better assist with protection in the passing game. Reggie's ability further complicated the way he had to use some of his weapons. I'm not fully excusing Gailey (& Nix) for the way they have run the offense - we've had better personnel than our scoring/total offense stats would lead one to believe.

If we can maintain some consistency on the OLine we've be better positioned to use more of our arsenal - including the small RBs, the TEs and the FB.

That has been a staple of Chan Gailey coached teams. Reggie Ball, Mike Cox, Reshaun Grant, The Tight End position. etc. etc.

While I don't necessarily disagree with you, it still doesn't explain 4 years of Reggie Ball.

When you can explain that phenomenon, then a worm hole will open up and you can travel through time and to other dimensions ;)
