CBS predicst GT to play Rutgers in Bowl

beej, the FOTM'ers will soon start the "We should turn down any bid we get!" nonsense, since we haven't met our expectations for the season. After all, anyone who hasn't joined their pitchfork&torch brigade is obviosuly 'content' with the results, right?

Of course, they'd never dream of walking onto the practice field or into the locker room and telling the players that they have no business going to a bowl.

They don't exactly make me cream my shorts, but going to a ****ty bowl is better than not going to one at all. We need the extra practice time it allows, if nothing else.

We have had that extra practice time for all 5 years of the CG regime.
How different would the next year have been do you think if we would have wrapped it up early?

I know that we can't refuse a bowl game like Dodd did with the Gator one year. However, if the same number of "bowl games" existed today, we wouldn't have to turn one down.

Who knows? But practice is clearly better than no practice. That's just common sense.

I just read that and saw something completely asinine. They predicted Alabama vs. FSU in the Music City bowl. While I know some MNC games have been rematches, such as FSU vs. UF 1996, but would they really put those teams together again?

Anyway, I would be somewhat excited about playing Alabama/Auburn in the Music City bowl. Not exactly the BCS, but that would be a good game.

GT will likely play the loser of the Bama/Auburn game in Nashville.

If auburn loses, that will hurt our chances plus the Gailey imminent firing would hurt but is not necessarily a deal breaker.

CFN puts us in the Emerald, and I like the potential SEC matchup there as well. Yeah, its the Nut Bowl, but I think both the team and fans would be pumped for the game (relative to the excitement for a non-regional/non-BCS opponents we usually get out west).

The problem is that bowl is played on a god damned baseball field. I wonder why they don't play it at the 49ers stadium? It's probably corporate BS as usual.

LOL...what is it with you and the constant profanity? What shortcoming are you thinking it compensates for?

:>)

It came from remembering how awful that Emerald Bowl game in 2005 was.

Yes, I can remember the Jack Daniel's-fueled expletives from that day as well. What's worse, it lead Bruce Feldman to say, "Eric Weddle shut down All-Everything WR Calvin Johnson," multiple times in his espn.com blog. Arrrrgh!!
