We should have no problem keeping Giff Smith with PJ, I think he played for PJ.
goldmember, I don't care if people belive this or even if it is true. It is not good that people are saying these things about GT. I think there is some truth in most of what is said by all of these sources but things change by the minute in these searches and everyone is trying to break the story. Alll I KNOW is we need resolution. The longer this drags out the more we get divided which is what DRad and everyone did not want or need.
People, y'all are biting on a rumor written by a guy with five total posts (3 from this thread). No offense to the original poster, but with all the rumors floating around, I'm going to wait for someone with more proven credibility before I believe this rumor has teeth.
Edit: I just realized the OP was referring to an article and not a rumor he was told of. MY BAD!!
No offense taken I'm just sharing what I hear. I have been around GT athletics very close at times since 89 but I have no idea what to BELIEVE at this point myself.
If that's true then that pisses me off to no end. It's all because people buy into this UGAy hate so much that they let it cloud their rational thinking.Macon, They are all very good friends. All I can guess is that we didn't treat WM very well in this process.
I hope this thing can straighten out soon. I am not advocating that Muschamp or Hatcher should have been hired, but if we have jerked them around and offended them in this process, we will have made some pretty bad enemies.
I have talked with a former Georgia high school football coach who knew them both when he was down there and he considers them to be two of the favorites of high school coaches in the state. It seems we could get close to offending the "thirty-somethings" who are pretty tight friends in the coaching fraternity in Georgia. That could have long term negative implications for recruiting.
Win enough andthe seats will be filled- and we will get plenty of sidewalk fans.
I hope this isn't true! PJ seems like he would be a bore! Maybe he will win but he doesn't strike me as a marketing machine to fill the seats and excite fans.
You're confusing one fact here - winning is the marketing machine.
O'Leary wasn't "exciting", he was gruff and even a little bit old school. Friedgen wasn't "exciting", but his offenses sure were. Those guys ended up being exciting because they won a bunch of games, and each time you went to the stadium you knew that the other team was going to have trouble stopping our offense. You knew that we could score in less than a minute. That's what gets fans excited, not the head coaches' personality.
Johnson may be a "bore", but if he wins 9 or 10 games and beats Georgia all GT fans will be clamoring about what a fantastic guy he is, how even though he's a little short with the fans sometime its just a lovable character trait. "Sure, Johnson called my wife ugly at a lunch bunch meeting, but did you see how his option attack took apart the doggies? Man, I love that guy."
