CFN GT Preseason Preview

They were very generous to us last season, predicting we'd get bowl eligible.

They don't even list Josh as one of our ten best players? Allllrighty, then.
TECH'S TEN BEST PLAYERS
---------------------------------
1. RB Jonathan Dwyer, Jr.
2. S Morgan Burnett, Jr.
3. DE Derrick Morgan, Jr.
4. WR Demaryius Thomas, Jr.
5. RB Roddy Jones, Soph.
6. LB Sedric Griffin, Jr.
7. OG Cord Howard, Sr.
8. LB Cooper Taylor, Soph.
9. CB Mario Butler, Jr.
10. RB Anthony Allen, Jr.

Interesting to note that there is only one senior on the list.

No, they didn't. We had to get to 7 wins to be bowl eligible last season.

Also, I'm pretty sure Sedric Griffin is a senior..

Josh seems to be really underrated to people who don't follow GT very carefully. He was left completely off of HD's list too, didn't even get an honorable mention.

Although, I suppose he really wasn't that great last year. He completed less than 50% of his passes and got injured a lot. So I can see why people say he's not top 30 in the conference or one of our top 10 players. However, what no one should dispute is that he is definitely one of the top 10, probably top 5, most important players to our team.

Touche sir.

As for Nesbitt, when they make those lists they don't really included intangibles and while he had many great games he also had times where he was pretty mediocre, particularly against Virginia, at least by my memory alone.

How could they rate our linebackers better than our secondary???

I would. Other then Morgan Burnett, our secondary is suspect. I think, with Taylor moving up, that our LBs are stronger, and have less questions to answer.

Indeed the main reason for that is they are counting Taylor among the linebackers. Also they are dealing with what is know instead of potential, so Tarrant isn't boosting it as much as we'd place him as, though he might end up being a big contributor. Also, Mario Butler needs to improve in my opinion.

I'm much more worried about our LBs than our DBs this year. We have a lot of guys who got time in the backfield who were inexperienced and with injuries, etc., they didn't have the opportunity to gel. I think we'll be fine there. The LBs were also young and suffered injuries but I never felt like they played well no matter who was in. In fact, a lot of our coverage issues were LBs failing to get into their drops.

All those Jr.s in the top ten... We have a big transition coming up player wise from Gailey to Johnson and I think the 2011 and 2012 seasons will be a strong indicator as to the future of Tech football and if we are to make the transition from perennial 15-25 to an elite program under CPJ

We have to become a perennial 15-25 program first.

Watch a replay of the UGAy game. There is no other quarterback in the country that could have done what Nesbit did. I hurt just watching him. Just an ounce of his blood has more testosterone than a horse and he is by far the toughest thing east of Chuck Norris. I say he is a top 10.

So when does LB has to drop 25 yards in coverage?!?! The DBs played just as bad as the LBs did last year. Dont let Burnett numbers skew your perception of the Dbs. The Lbs get bashed so much but there is nothing never said how our "great" Dline underachieved?

Nesbitt should replace Mario Butler on the top 10 list

First off, does anyone here believe for a nanosecond that Josh is not the most important player on the team in terms of increasing our chances for Ws? Puhleeze!

Secondly, Butler misses tackles.
