I've been in the position for the past 3 years to interact with Coach Gailey. In what capacity I will not say, but I've been behind the curtain so to speak. Coach Gailey is a very nice individual who loves his players to death. As a person, that's great. As a coach, not so much because he wouldn't hold players accountable or assign responsibility to those who made mistakes both on and off the field. He'd yell at support staff (trainers, equipment guys, GAs) and coaches but never players.

Good guy, bad manager. Leave it at that.

My insiders tell me their is some ugly behind the veil but you know what.... it will not come out. Mainly around inconsistent treatment for discipline, playing favorites and broken promises.

As one post says above nice guy bad manager. Bad managers always do the same things and many are talked about as being a really nice guy. I have had to clean up some of these nice guy messes in the past.

I never cared for CG's coaching ability. But shortly after he was fired yesterday he went to speak at Lunch Bunch and there's not a coach on this planet that would have done the same under the same circumstances.

Also, did you know that yesterday evening, Chan Gailey went to visit with both Chris Jackson and Steven Sylvester to implore them to honor their commitment to GT because they committed to the school and not him? Did you know that? I don't know of another coach who would have done that.

I would imagine he must have called his other recruits to let them know the same.

That's a man of integrity and class no matter how you slice it.

I have a feeling all of this was a part of the agreement when he was canned. I don't believe he is totally a man of integrity - never have.

Are you dumb? What agreement? We broke our agreement with him and are paying him the full buyout amount. He doesn't have to do dick. There's nowhere in his contract he has to go do any of this. What a far reaching comment to try and rationalize your viewpoint.
 
You guys are like little f**king girls spreading gossip in the bathroom. I've read more complete douche bag comments in this thread than I have ever seen before. The man's gone. We can all agree that he was a crappy coach and crappy manager but when you start infering that he was this sinister no character scumbag, that's pretty cowardly and pathetic.

Far reaching, come on. Did you hear what he said about being fired from the Cowboys and Tech? "He said I took the Cowboys to 2 straight playoffs and Tech to 6 straight bowl games and I get fired."

He also said, 'he doubted there are many candidates out there who might do better'.

I think he's pissed and I don't think he would have voluntarily gone to those recruits or Lunch Bunch!

He's not very smitten with Georgia Tech these days! I don't know why, the guy was overpaid to begin with and got 4Mill to leave town! Chan is not God and he does have integrity and character flaws.

Nobody said he was sinister, we said he has integrity and character flaws and I don't see that being cowardly or pathetic. There's been way too much said about these negative traits over the last 6 years to doubt they exist.

When everyone keeps talking about someone's character and integrity, it's a cover for being less than a stand up guy! Everytime Chan did something wrong that's all the crap that was written and heard. But his character and intergrity are golden - give me a break. Nobody's is - least of all Chan.

If you can say he was a good guy and believe it, then I believe there are many of us who believe different and can say it.

When I said it was in the agreement - I wasn't relating to his contract but probably a gentlemen's agreement between him and Rad.

Well from what I've seen so far from both of you, I think I'll be sticking with my assessment of Chan.
