Championship Day Thread

Back in the day we (including me) were saying it should always be in Charlotte, because it was within driving distance of most schools.

Obviously that's not true anymore, but I'm not sure there's really a better place for it. Will never happen, but I'd like to see it played at home field of the higher seed.
MBS on a Friday night would make a lot of sense.

Too far away. MBS on Friday night isn't a bad idea although I'm not convinced it's better than Charlotte because if basically requires taking vacation for all teams other than us

Surely you'd drive to Charlotte too though. Unless you live in Florida which is maybe the joke. I'm real fun at parties.
I drove to Charlotte when we played fsu. In fact, my picture of the firework smoke that completely obscured the field showed up in Facebook memories today.

9 of 10 times, Jacksonville is going to have better weather than Charlotte at this time of year. The new stadium is going to be awesome. Plus you can either stay Amelia island or JAX beaches. It’s a good time. It’s not like any schools north of Clemson are going to be in the championship game anytime soon.

well there is the indoor aspect. in december it can matter.

Ultimately it's tough no matter what. Conference championships really just feel a lot less meaningful and a lot less worthy of travel time and money

Not only do you have the playoffs after if you win (meaning potentially two more neutral site games), but the conferences are huge, spread out across the country, and you don't play half of the teams every year. It doesn't really feel like being out your "rivals" for the conference title anymore.

Well, if SMU gets left out of the playoff with a loss, look for there to be a push to get rid of the conference champ games.

yes. CFB losing regional aspect is just plain sad.

i was big Pac 12 fan. really bummed they blew it up.

Nessler and danielson sound refreshing compared to the Mutt love I've got over 2 weeks
You must have missed Danielson claiming (with enthusiasm) Clemson winning guarantees Alabama in then. Which is odd, considering it seems the only possible outcome for Alabama being knocked out (which they shouldn’t be #12 now anyway).
