Championship Day Thread

On3 has Clemson and SMU projected in. Bama, Miami, Ole Miss, etc out.

#12 Clemson @ #5 ND
#11 SMU @ #6 Texas

Personally I’d rather see the matchups flipped. We’ve seen enough Clemson-ND games, including CFP games.

CFP Top 4:

1. Oregon
2. uga
3. Boise State
4. Arizona State

Honestly, 2-4 are not really 2-4.

Clemson just beat the #8 team. ASU beat the #16 team. Clemson should be ranked ahead of ASU and get a bye.
SMU belongs in the top 12. Bama should be out. That won’t happen. If smu is in, Miami is out. It also won’t surprise me to see smu left out.

Eh, I went to Clemson but I don’t think we earned the bye. SMU is better than Iowa State but ASU blew them away. I don’t see them switching the spots based purely on tonight.

ASU has been a damn good team the last 2 months. They deserve the #4 seed over Clemson. Had Clemson not choked against UofL or last week, #4 would have been clinched tonight.

I like this lineup:
1. Oregon
2. Georgia
3. Boise State
4. Arizona State
5. Texas
6. Penn State
7. Notre Dame
8. Ohio State
9. Tennessee
10. Clemson
11. SMU
12. Indiana
This puts the top four conference champions in place and inserts Clemson just ahead of SMU. The remaining teams are placed in the order they were in after the end of the regular season. No one gets jumped over by a team that was idle this weekend - thus no penalty for losing a championship game. I would not be opposed to Notre Dame being 5th and moving Texas and Penn State to 6 and 7. If we did that, the first round games would be interesting with a couple of in-state battles: Indiana at Notre Dame, SMU at Texas, Clemson at Penn State, and Tennessee at Ohio State.

Glad I didn't watch the SEC Championship, looks like it would've been reliving a trauma

There should not be a possibility of teams playing each other for the THIRD TIME.
Would you feel the same way if we, let's say, finished 12-0 but lost in the ACC championship to a team that we had beat in the regular season. So we sit home since there shouldn't be a possibility of playing each other for the third time?

I'd be fine with that scenario so I guess my complaint is not 3x match-ups in general. It's more a third matchup between teams where one team won the first two games.

I think there should be only 6 or 8 teams in the Playoff, and in that case Texas shouldn't be one of the 6 or 8.

I'm with you that no one wants to see that match up for a 3rd time. I'd actually be fine with Texas and uga being left out of the playoffs altogether, even without a reason but if I had to give a reason, Texas because they lost to uga twice and uga because, well öööö them that's why.

Better be 2. Whether it means Clemson is #11, SMU #12, SMU better be in over Alabama. ESPECIALLY when Ward Manual said “Teams who lose in the Championship game in the CFP Top 12 will not be penalized.” But we know what’s going to happen….

We’ll see what spin comes out tomorrow at 12:30 pm when they lie and pick Alabama #12.
The ACC and SMU should have a lawsuit with TRO prepared in the event the committee leaves SMU out. Lawsuit should be against the committee, individual committee members, the SEC and B1G.

The conference championship game is going the way of the Dodo. It really should too There’s very little benefit to having one. Crown a regular season champion and then go straight to the first round of the playoffs.

is there anyone else who thinks the bias from officiating crews favor UGA to the point that it really doesn't matter who draws them they will get every break to propel them to the championship trophy? I mean it is so painfully obvious It's like Sarkisian said going in at halftime" I just hope they see UGA's holds a little more in the second half" I mean for crying out loud UGA's OL is one of the most flagrant holders in college football yet are hardly flagged

Bizarro world. Are all refs raised in GA or something?

That was probably best case scenario for the ACC. A very competitive game, that Clemson wins. Now it’s impossible to keep SMU out without the committee looking like a bunch of two-faced clowns. ACC will get 2 teams.
