In Kansas for the summer; where it's impossible to avoid KC Chiefs news. As reported here, following a 2-14 2008 season and a 2009 0-3 preseason Gailey has been fired as Offensive Coordinator.

I wish him well in his new endeavors. But I hope for his sake if he decides to continue working he selects a line of work more in line with his strengths (as so many have reminded us of during his tenure at GT).

So, to help him along the right path I have a few suggestions (only with his best interest in mind not like someone who suggested a coaching position with UGA- not nice!).

1. Youth Minister
2. Choir Leader
3. Love Boat Tour Guide
4. UGA Cheerleading Coach-disgraceful all the backbiting going on there the past few years.
5. Oscar Meyer Weinermobile Driver- just a summer job if he only needs to work part-time to supplement his severance packages (the downturn you know).

Chan'g sauce mixer at PF Chengs. "How spicy would you like your Cheng sauce"?

9. Media manager for the Ocher manufacturers of America.

(too obscure?)

10. Moderator of the Annual StingTalk versus BBuzzoff Our Board Rocks Off Contest

11. Low dose viagra salesman. For all those old farts who want to get it up, just not all the way.

12. A second stint as Reggie Ball's manservant

13. Spokesman for

Math Teacher... Specifically teaching kids to count to 4.

Guys we need to be a bit more sensitive when matching the job demands to Chan's abilities. Some of you, while in good faith I'm sure, have listed jobs that might not lead to success. In good conscience I'm afraid another severance package would not be good for Chan's self-esteem.

15. WalMart Greeter-at a smaller store with not much traffic

Go on a tremendously popular speaking tour called "Golden Parachutes and You".

You guys are rough. I love the guy.

It's sad that our fan base could feel this way about a guy who never had a losing season and restored us to respectability after a complete debacle engineered and created by George O'Leary that somehow everyone has forgotten about.

The guy was not Paul Johnson or Bobby Dodd, but he is one hell of a man, and an ethical leader of men, and a good (not great) football coach. Our fan base somehow has created a revisionist history of what they think they remember.

I respect the guy for always caring more about his kids and his impact on them than he ever did about what us fans, or even his boss, thought. The guy had enough balls to keep doing what he thought was right during a time that other coaches have completely caved under the pressure - example Richt and the UF endzone party, O'Leary throwing his seniors under the bus late in his last season here, and Joe Burns after the UMD game, or Bobby Bowden at any given moment at any point in time...

GT people should be embarrassed of how we acted during that time. I certainly was - especially towards the end.

The guy was not a great coach, but he was MUCH better than many here remember.

Our whiny fans were much more of a hinderance to him and our program than he ever was to us.

That's hilarious!

Our fans aren't receiving millions upon millions of dollars to not be fans anymore.

I supported Gailey. I get what he was trying to do. And I know Braine hurt Gailey at every step of the way.

But, Gailey was here long enough to prove himself. He got us 1 Coastal division title. He succeeded in accomplishing 0 out of his three stated goals (beat Uga, win ACC, finish in top 25).

I will stop mocking Gailey when he is off the GT payroll, which I think runs for another 4 years. His golden parachute has done more damage than a few whiny fans ever could.

If Gailey wishes to give me his severance pay, then you are welcome to start as many "WracerX's Next Career Move" threads you wish.
