Rankings are usually about rewarding success more than actually measuring which teams are the best at any given moment during the season. ND is bottom of the pack amongst one loss teams and ahead of G5 undefeated s. They’re aiight by me.

To add to that, poll rankings are also heavily influenced by where they place a team at the start of the season. A team can beat no one of value but if the voters started them in the top 10 they won't move far out of it.
