Chip Kelly is gone

Jeffry Luria screwed him over by dragging it out until all the college vacancies were filled.

If what ESPN reported yesterday is correct, Luria had no intention of firing him yesterday. But when he would not agree to giving up control of personnel it was either fire him or let him continue to control coaching & personnel...and the 2nd one wasn't going to happen.

Kelly still has at least 2 more years of guaranteed money coming so sitting out a year isn't going to force him into bankruptcy. He can bide his time until the job he wants comes around. But I still think he gets an NFL offer from Tennessee.

Scoring offense / YPG
2012: 29 / 15 (Pre-Kelly)
2013: 4 / 2
2014: 3 /5
2015: 16 / 15

Looks like the offense worked pretty darn well to me.

He went 10-6 twice and had an overall winning record. That is pretty good.

How many times did he make the playoffs and what was his record in 'em?

That offense was mostly dog crap this year...in year 3, with his hand-picked players. And the effects on the PHI DEF were pretty negative too.

Only one guy can really pull off that whole "HC/GM" thing and Chip Kelly is no Bill Belichek.

Sam Bradford is just awful, i still can't understand why Kelly wanted him so bad

I realize many disagree but I think Tebow would've been brilliant for the Eagles this year. No glass jaw like Bradford. Not a great passer but good enough. And famously inspirational with disgruntled teammates in a fragile locker room. And not sure the second guessing of Kelly's personnel moves would've been any worse.

They tried him in a game. He was way too inaccurate and defense wouldn't respect your passing game in that situation. It's not like he has Mariotta's or Wilson's speed either.

Preseason, man. That's like blaming me for my first divorce.

Why does Bradfords head look so tiny in his helmet? I'm pretty sure this has something to do with his suckitude

Wow. Free shoes is getting owned by an American Conference team, the Cougars?? They are exposed. Hope it does not diminish the Miracle.

It takes Tebow about 32 seconds to throw the ball, far too long in the NFL.

Tebow sucked as an NFL QB. That was the one personnel decision that "College" Chip got right.

Spot on, with the word "one" being the operative term, you characterized Kelly's year perfectly ...

Just got hired by the 49ers.

Kaepernick is back?

49ers pick #7:

7. San Francisco 49ers
2015 record: 5-11 (.539)
Top need: Quarterback
Other needs: Right tackle, wide receiver, defensive line
Senior prospects at positional needs: QB: Connor Cook (Michigan State), Jacoby Brissett (North Carolina State), Carson Wentz (North Dakota State), Cody Kessler (USC); OT: Vadal Alexander (LSU), Taylor Decker (Ohio State), Spencer Drango (Baylor); WR: D.J. Foster (Arizona State), Sterling Shepard (Oklahoma), Josh Doctson (TCU); DL: DeForest Buckner (Oregon), Shilique Calhoun (Michigan State), Shawn Oakman (Baylor).
Analysis: The 49ers hoped that Colin Kaepernick would somehow turn it around, but he didn't and they know it is time to move on. The 49ers are almost assured of being in position to take a first-round quarterback for the first time since making Alex Smith with the first pick of the 2005 NFL Draft. Sudden retirements have left the 49ers a mess, and maybe no more so than at right tackle. Consistency at wide receiver would be helped with an infusion of young talent, and the formerly formidable defensive front for the 49ers could use an upgrade along the defensive line.

Good hire. He gets no GM control and will focus on coaching.

Can't imagine Kaep is leaving now.

I don't get why Kaepernick is being written off. He was the QB during their superbowl run and did a öööö fine job. He really dropped off after their OC went to the Bills (where perennial back up Tyrod Taylor ended up flourishing). I think with the right coaching/scheme, Kaep can be a beast. Although who knows if Chip Kelly is that fit.
