Choice Surgery Successful (AJC)

Thanks for the news and the link!

Tashard -- think NFL first buddy. Don't come back too soon ! The difference between the Carquest Bowl the Nut Bowl or the Pinata Bowl is pretty minimal.

Man...hard to imagine that you can have knee surgery and be back to full speed in 3 weeks. TC should ask himself if its worth it and should not play hurt...think about your future Deuce! No need to blow out your knee and end your career just to win an extra game or two and send your team to the Champs sports bowl.

Maybe it's just me, but I can't help but think back to what happened to Tony Hollings' career after an initially reported "it's not that serious" knee injury.

He came back too soon in an effort to get into the suppplemental draft and never again got back to nearly being the RB that he was before.

The entire situation with a charismatic kid like Choice looks like too early a return to me, and the risk far outweighs the potential reward. We will probably do just as well in the CarQuest Bowl with him on the sidelines.

My wife actually said he should just sit out until the "NFL work-out thingy". I disagreed with her for selfish purposes.

I want him to kill Georgie.

We should rest him until Georgia whether he wants to or not, then use his return as an emotional bonus.

I agree - especially for Duke. UNC won't be the pushover they have been in years past, but Dwyer, Grant, etc. should be more than capable of carrying that load. It's better for him not to sit out every game and the bowl. NFL Scouts will see that as a sign that his knee is worse off than it truly is.

The only games I really want him for are VT and UGA, and he's going to miss VT no matter what. And if we go 3-1 over our last 4, including a UGA win, that makes for a successful season IMO.

If you gave me the option of pressing a Magic Easy Button and guaranteeing us a loss to VT and a win on the rest, I'd push it and hope for the Peach Bowl.

Even if we do beat UGAy in that scenario would the Peach Bowl actually take a team with 4 ACC loses?

Indeed, they could not take a team with 4 conference losses, unless the 2nd-best record in the league was 3 conference losses, which is highly unlikely.

It would be ideal for him to wait till the UGA game but he probably wont. UNC is my guess. Told you guys he would be fine he was walking around like nothing was wrong, it was just a little scope. He was walking fine after the surgery no assistance needed.

A-la Willis Reed for the Knicks in Game 7 of the 1970 NBA finals. TC could start the game and run a couple of plays --let RG take over and run for 100+.

Nice call beej67

The article above has been updated with an actual story and details. I'll repost the link because I'm nice:
http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/sports/gatech/stories/2007/10/23/choice_1024.html

Summary:
- He may be back as early as the Duke game
- Grant will probably start vs. VPI but Evans and Dwyer will get carries (I suspect this will be similar to what we say in the 2nd half against Army)
- Psychologically, this is a lift that he isn't seriously hurt

Considering the circumstances, I'd say this is about as well as things could've gone.

I would like to seem him rest through the Duke game. There is no sense in rushing back and not being ready, especially when the opponent is a team like Duke.
