Chris Jackson?

If we 25 spots on the table right now I could see a offer coming and be fine with that. But we have 12 and have 8 commits so far. Were sitting good with some recruits and not sure we can afford to give one up. Let's say he walks on this year and then next year we will be close to 25 scholarships. So we could afford to give him one then. That's the dream anyway though.

We have 12 spots available for 2010, if we don't lose any early NFL or guys that leave the program. That isn't going to happen, we will likely have 3-5 more spots open up at least prior to fall 2010. CJ isn't coming here as a walk-on. If CPJ thinks he will help the team and is comfortable bringing him into the program our 'ship numbers won't be a factor. For all you guys talking about walking-on, you won't like it very much if this guy is at Clemson or UNC kicking our arse because we wanted him to walk-on and "earn it. "

My opinion is if he wants to be at GT he can walk on and earn it. He passed on us once. Make him prove how bad he wants to be here. If he doesn't that's fine with me.

Yeah! In fact, we should make everyone walk on. Make 'em prove it, ya know!

The question seems to me to be: In a year where we have apparently not offered a single WR, is CJ enough of a hoss to get PJ to make him an offer? He's a great talent, but we can't miss this year.

Remember that he also could play A-back (which is what they showed him before) and even DB (where we have good numbers next fall).

Also...everyone is forgetting that he is wanting to transfer before practice breaks August 3. Therefore, he would be on scholarship beginning this school year where we have spots available. That still means we have a problem next school year where today we only have 12 spots.

I think we lose 2 early NFL guys, plus 2-3 leave for other reasons. I would be stunned if we don't have 17 available entering 2010. To me it seems a no brainer, whether we bring in 12 or 15 this year, I think CJ is a good option for that last available ship, assuming CPJ is ok with whatever issues surrounded his move to Alabama.

I think we lose 2 early NFL guys,

I really hope we do not lose Dwyer or Burnett...2010 could be a phenomenal year with only 2 senior starts on offense this year (Voss and Howard) and 1 on defense (Griffin).

It would be surprised to see them back. I was thinking with Burnett that he was a little too thin to be a first round NFL safety, but he looked a lot bigger to me this spring. I think he would probably go in the early 2nd Round and that might be attractive for him.

If he stays healthy, Dwyer is going to put up big numbers with lots of long runs again. The question is will the NFL scouts have trouble projecting him to a pro style offense. My guess is they will not.

I think a guy like Thomas, is likely a 3rd or 4th round pick, but he is probably a 3rd or 4th round pick as a Senior as well, so he might decide to jump early. Not sure how far he is away from his degree, that could factor in.

I think Derrick Morgan could be the best prospect of all of them. I thought he may have been the best player on our team last year. He probably wore down a little but he had a great year. I was talking about him to Chuck Smith the former Falcons DE and he thought he was our best DL last year and a likely first round pick.

I guess what I'm really saying is that I'm not worrying about numbers or positions when we have a coaching staff to do so. They know this stuff way better than we do, plus they have a 1000% better view into who will really make it at what position and what the real number will eventually be. If the kid gets an offer and ends up at Tech, it's because PJ thinks he's worth the scholarship.

I agree.

I wonder why we don't hear more about guys swinging between A-Back and WR like they swing between A-Back and B-Back. It might be attractive to some receivers, would be the equivalent of geting to run some reverses in another offense.

then kick Anthony Allen off the team too. we recruited him, but he stilted us and went to Louisville. Then he came back. Same with Tashard Choice and John Dewberry.

people make mistakes. Chris had his feelings hurt. he was 18 years old. he changed his mind

and if a girl goes out with another guy means that you will not go out with her, then you will have to move to Thailand or somewhere else where you can find you some 14 or 15 year old, because most women have already gone out with and probably had sex with another man

dumbass

Did Tashard Choice and Anthony Allen make a verbal commitment and then back out?

If not, you're comparing apples to oranges.

You're also clearly not even reading my post with that addition you put on the end. But hey, it it even necessary to read what you're replying to?

Not when you're BuzzCzar :laugher:

GSU, I have to disagree with you on this one. I do not know much about this kid, I briefly remember his name, but that's it. He could be a great kid, he could be an ego, etc. That's beside my point.

My opinion is that this is not a situation, like the analogy you suggest, where a girl decides to go out with you and then finds someone better. This is more analogous to a girl committing to go out with you and then your Dad comes back two weeks later and tells her if she wants to go on the date she's actually going to be dating your more attractive and more intellectual, albeit less compatible cousin, Paul. Nothing saying she thinks there is anything wrong with Paul, but it's not what she committed to.

I understand the argument that the commitment is to the school, but I have never read a newspaper article entitled "4-star mathlete commits to study _____ at GT."

This is not that kind of situation at all, gsu. Chris absolutely loves GT, and planned to go there all along. He was helping recruit, too. He was misled by some very close advisers in the post-Gailey departure time frame, and after a difficult decision, decided to switch to Alabama. It's a simple case of a 17 year old making a huge decision, getting some faulty advice from the adults surrounding him, and making a bad one. If he wants to come to Tech, and can work it out with PJ, I'd love to have him back.

Any time frame on a decision? Did I hear or read that he is meeting with CPJ today? (Friday)

Hopefully that IS the case. From an outsider looking in, it doesn't appear that way.
