I don’t think we win, but I think it’s closer than projections.

IMO…..I think this game serves as a kind of measuring stick where GT football is under this head coach. Clemson is loaded on defense, but I think their offense might be suspect. I think if we get another 70 hung on us, then we’re not where we need to be or should be as a program.

At any rate: GO JACKETS! STING ‘EM!

Wasn’t Northern 22, GT 21 and “it’s a matter of when, not if…” all the measuring stick you need for right now?

My point is not that I think Collins sucks and it’s all over, although I do think that Collins sucks, but that I don’t know what you really learn losing by 28 instead of 45. The real measuring stick is to go out and win games, not merely avoiding another embarrassment.

You're still missing the point. He's talking about people who actually use how we're playing, rather than the two big numbers at the bottom of the screen, to gauge their opinions of the team and whether to freak out and post a bunch of stupid garbage to a message board.

jk win or go home if ur not first ur last fire danny hall

I think losing by 28 instead of 45 means we are closing the gap between us and whoever you are talking about which, I'm pretty sure, is exactly how one goes about using a measuring stick. I'm as skeptical as the next guy but progress is progress however you want to measure it.

Think about the inverse. Let's say we beat Clemson by one point this year and 30 points next year. Are you suggesting that next year's team is the same as this year's team? I sure as hell hope not.

"Think about the inverse"- look at you using your engineering degree :cooleek:

Don't care what you miserable ööööers think.

No I’m not missing my own point. I don’t think we learn anything today because to me Clemson is not a measuring stick for this program right now. If Clemson wins by 50 or 20, to me that is Clemson mashing or not mashing the gas. I don’t believe anything Tech does or does not do today shows much of anything.

So if we somehow won, would you also say "well Clemson just played really bad, we didn't play any good" or "this just means Clemson also sucks, not just Collins"?

I'm not even sure how to argue with that. If you don't see the difference between improved play in a three score loss, and horrific play in a seven score loss, I am at a loss for what else to say.

I don’t think you understand how measuring sticks work.

when I referred to measuring stick, I should have been more precise, especially for some on this board. I expect GT to be competitive in all three phases of the game. There’s a big difference in losing by seven compared to 70. Players go out and compete every down. Progress is, at the end of the game, did we compete on each and every series. Competing is doing everything you can each play of the game. I’ve seen GT teams lay down in the past and just try to ”get through” a game.

In terms of measuring sticks, I'm thinking that scoring a TD would be a slightly good sign, bonus points if it's in the first half.

and you’re entitled to your opinion.

Last year was an absolute embarrassment. I hope Collins made the team watch that schitshow. We should be good enough to be within striking distance (10 or less) to start the 4th. We should be good enough that no P5 team pulls their starters and rotates in scrubs on us.
