Wow! I thought VT would give them a game, but I never imagined this happening, 24-7??

What does this tell us about us now?? I will let you guys answer this.

I think it really says something about the ACC this year. It's alot better than most people think, we may not have 1 or 2 top 10 teams but we got a BUNCH of really good teams(and none of them are from Florida) that can play as good as anybody on any given night, we're all just a little too inconsistent. Everybody but NC and Duke, and probably Virginia can play with anybody talent wise.

It's crazy to think though now Clemson probably won't go to the Championship game.

We better take care of business Saturday. THWTU!!!

That's a tough turnaround for Clemson. To play in such an emotional game against GT on Saturday and then travel 5 days later to Blacksburg of all places. That's tough.

GT just need to take care of what we can take care of and that's us.

I'm sure it's happened, but I can't recall a time that Tech has had to play two ACC teams in five days and certainly not two games with this much significance.

I'm not sure how schedules are made exactly, but Clemson's either stupid for doing this or the ACC really gave them the shaft.

Doesn't tell us much about us. We already know we played a poor all around game, compounded by Reggie's lack of mobility/effectiveness. What it says is Clemson played really well against us but not so much against VT, while VT played as well as they have all year. What it really says is the ACC is a toss up this year.

Clemson definitley had a tough row to hoe having hosted GT five days prior to heading to VT. I am not surprised that they lost, but I am surprised in how they lost, being soundly defeated. Just as I was surprised that GT was soundly beaten by Clemson. VT has an excellent program and it was on display last night. Leaves me even more impressed with the Jackets efforts last month at Lane.

It just shows what good teams in the ACC are capable of when they put a total A game together. With BC, GT, VT and Clemson, you have four very good teams that are capable on any given day of beating just about anybody in the country, which is something you would normally say about two other conference teams, UM and FSU. This is a very good football conference.

Clemson, GT and VT can all attest in one way or another what can happen if you don't come out ready to play against one another, just as BC found out against NC State. Just as GT better be ready to play tomorrow, and I believe they will.

Is this a joke??? The ACC is very down this year. Heck, if we don't beat Miami this weekend, there could be zero ACC teams in the top 20 come Monday.

No one ever said the polls made sense. If it was all about who was best Boise State would not be ranked.

Not this year. Heck, the SEC has three teams in the top 10 almost.

Once again...poll rankings are not necessarily indicative of which teams are better or else Boise State would not be ranked at all. What if they were in this powerful SEC? Would they still be ranked 15...or whatever they are ranked? Nope.

Therefore, the polls are more about trending on your current schedule than who is actually better.

Almost???

Like UGA ALMOST beat Vandy? :laugher: :laugher: :laugher:

Ok, everyone thinks and knows the ACC is down this year but those yellow colored glasses fans that want to believe otherwise...

quick search and here are just two articles among many that came up...

http://www.ajc.com/search/content/sports/gatech/stories/2006/10/11/1012accmidway.html

http://www.thestate.com/mld/thestate/sports/colleges/clemson_university/15671661.htm

..and these were written before the conference's only highly ranked team got taken to the woodshed last night on national television.

If all you go by is the polls then you win. But if the polls make so much sense, stick around for all the complaining at season's end on who should be in what bowl. No one has said the ACC has a MNC caliber team this year. But that doesn't mean all these teams suck. The league had a record number of players taken in the draft last year including the most ever by a conference in the 1st round. Maybe teams are finally getting things together after those losses?

No one said all the ACC teams "suck"... just that the ACC is in a very down year that could potentially result in having no ACC teams in the top 20 next week with the exception to us should we beat Miami. Not sure how hard Clemson will fall, but given the solid beating they took on national tv, they could fall out of the top 20 just like we did. Why should they not if we did in a loss of similar fashion?

To try and say the ACC is NOT having a down year as evident by the polls, OOC games, and the many editorials written on this topic, is too pretend otherwise. That is all... not flaming any one ACC team, but it is the reality on our conf. as whole this year. Our ONLY topped ranked team and ONLY ACC team ranked in the top 20 was totally dominated and embarrassed by an unranked ACC foe last night.

GeeTee...I love how you are ignoring my question because you know the answer.

If the polls are truly indicative of how good teams are Boise State, who is ranked #15, would be ranked #15 regardless of what conference they are in. So...if they were in the SEC...and had already played Auburn, Florida, and LSU...do you honestly think they would still be ranked #15? If the rankings are truly indicative of how good teams are....then Boise State would be #15 regardless of conference.

I like watching the polls as much as anyone...and I love it when GT is ranked. However, I also have to admit that polls are more about recent trending against your current schedule rather than who is actually better.

Agree?

not answering your question? so the polls aren't perfect, but to blame them for what is clearly a down year in the ACC is quite a stretch.

Extremely poor job of trying to diffuse the question...which I am assuming you are trying to do. The only other option is you just truly do not understand logic.

You are the one using polls as a determining factor...I am simply stating that is not completely logical.

If you do not get that....then I feel sorry for you.

hardly...there are just 2 or 3 folks that are always negative...GeeTee is one of them. We could win the NC and he would complain about something....like the rest of the country was down.
