I haven't posted but once since the Auburn upset. I have, quite honestly, been in shock. The Auburn game was simply a complete 180 degree flip-flop from what I expected. It was a great day. Anytime Tech beats Auburn, its a time for celebration.... and then pause. I've done both. The FSU game was a surprise for 50 minutes, but ended as expected. Depth, not heart, beats Tech more times than not. But at least Tech is now playing with heart. That's something it didn't do much of last year.
.
That's part of why the Clemson game is SOOOO important. If we lose this game, what do we have to show for all the heart and effort but a 1 and 3 record? If Tech wins, the team will build on it. Lose, and the team may start to unwind, second-guess, and back off on the gas.
.
I will say that Gailey has surprised me so far. Tenuta is very good. Ball is definitely a shot in everyone's arm. But there is no solution for our horrible depth and our offensive production is still weak. A win over Clemson would be huge...a loss will make the Auburn game seem like a mirage.

BOO

We're a legitimate work in progress. We don't need to play down to our weaknesses we should play up to our strengths. The potential is now.
This team has the heart of a champion.

tomorrows game will be like the Virginia game of 3 years ago.....NO TV.. Night game..30pt shutout

BDG.. I feel the same way that you do.. I feel that a win tomorrow would be huge for this team.. and I feel good about them getting that win...

Depth is a challenge for us.. the personnel losses have already taken a toll this year.. but, I like the way the guys are playing.. I even said so in a practice report 6 weeks ago.. and I think if everyone gives Gailey a chance to add a couple of recruiting classes ... we are going to be very pleased with the outcome..

By the way.. I have missed you not posting..
(I dont blame you for getting on the negative Chan wagon... you were just wrong !!.. smile)

I'm not sure I would say the Auburn game was a mirage but it would be old news at this point if we lost to clem.
i just have a gut feeling that at home this team has too much pride to lose to clem.At home the D can use the fans to keep them pumped.also-clem ain't fsu.Even spelled differently.duh

I have to agree with you ala.I will add to that by saying I am very confident that our coaches will as before have our players prepared to play and the players will put their heart in it as before so I expect to win but if we loose by some qruk I believe we will not fall apart as BDG says.

Kinda Shocked at you guys dictacting this season to be in the tank if we lose to clem.? Have you watched this game the past 8 yrs. My goodness talk about a stressful, heart pounding matchup. Look i expect tech to win as i did w/ the Bywho game but i still felt there was lots to play for after that loss and i've watched as this team has played w/ heart and soul. It's not a must win. It's a huge game that could determine a bowl appearance but man some of you jump on and off the wagon at the drop of a dime
GO JACKETS! I"LL BEE THERE LOUD N PROUD TOMORROW

1. I was not confident vs. Clemson, two years ago. They had advertised their receiving corps as being injured, winged, crippled, etc. They then managed to be far better in thier receiving than they had pretended they might be and with a fired up line stayed with us, pluse the rocket that made the last T.D. We know the OT disaster: (personally I believe it was a fluke and would not have occured under Tanuta). That loss was one of the worst I have ever experienced. I had three ways I could leave the stadium. a. commit suicide,B. (I was in the next section to Clemson and I could have ended the night in jail or 3. I could act completely contrary to my normal feelings, going against every emotion in my mind/body. I chose the latter and I left and on most every row as I left, I shook hands with Clemson fans congratulating them (first ever in my life and maybe/maybe not the last. Most were very nice and one especially: complete surprise, but enjoyment. Strangely, I felt much better as I left the game. I congratulated them and they like-wise said "good game, buddy."
I have read on this board: "A good loser is a loser"...I add this: "A bad loser is also a loser". "A loser is a loser". A loss is a loss is a loss. Anyone feeling good needs an examination and/or examination; But anyone losing his temper (as I often do) should cool down and act reasonably sane (which I eventually do.)
2 In my opinion last year was our game. It was just freakish (on all counts) and we lost. Nuff said.
3. This year, I am full of confindence and feel assured of a victory. WE HAVE A CAPABLE, ABLE, and GOOD (bordering on sensational) q.b.: And we have a d. to go along with him. also an o.l. that is playing thier hearts out!!!! With backs and spreads that are blocking and catching. Barring injuries: there will be no trouble beating our S.C. brothers.
Yes, BDG, I think this is one of the season determinator games, and I think we will win. WE have some awesome coaching going on (esp. the last two weeks) <read and weap, some of you> and we to this point have a team that is playing fast. and full speed ahead. Only , ONLY problems I have concern Brezina, and REis....these guys are special......however; we have some special guys ready to step in......I am confindent!!!! and will be greatly surprised if we should lose this very, very, important game. JMHO

Belly, you are a truly good/great,and loyal stingtalk friend/guy:

1. When I post making very little sense you say something like:"what the hell does that mean? "You went over my head", or such......

2. When I make sense you ignore it. Or give a casusal comment.

3. When I W.(rite)U.(nder) I.(nfluence), You either intimate: :"what the hell does that mean"? Or sympathize and try to deliver me from my feelings of guilt and self-condemnation.

I kind of think you do that for others as well. I as many am grateful for your input.

Thank you.

I hereby declare you as the recipient of the "conservative compassionate" award.

Actually, techs, I think I said you were crazy as two June bugs, which is an old Virginia saying which means: I like you too, bud.

But I thought the BYU game would dictate the season?

Look, the Clemson game is big, but so are all of them. I think we will win. If we do, the next game becomes the big game. If we lose, the next game becomes that much bigger. If we beat Clemson, it doesn't mean a thing in our following games. And if we lose, it also doesn't mean a thing unless the kids let it.

The Clemson game two years ago was the beginning of the end for O'Leary and Ga. Tech Football (as we had come to expect it). Things had been on a steady, and sometimes steep, slope downhill ever since that game....until the Auburn game.
.
What's a better way to say "we're back" than to beat the team that started the funk in the first place at home?
.
.
This game will be BIG.

I agree...I never feel that one game makes the season..I mean, we could lose to Clemson and win out for instance, giving us a 8-3 season...Not bad huh ?

It always kills me, for instance in the pros --> A team will be written off in mid-season, by all of the so-called "experts", and then come back to make the play-offs..Happens every year...Same for the "This game will make or break the seaason" crowd...Heck, ITS STILL SEPTEMBER ! And one game in Sept will make or break the season ??? Come on...no way.
