Clemson game will determine the season

this game is the biggest game of the season. why? simply because it is the next game. every game this season is big.

every game is winnable .. we have to go out, execute and win them. at the same token, every game could be lost.

fellows, the next game is the biggest game.

What's a better way to say "we're back" than to beat the team that started the funk in the first place at home?

This game will be BIG.

Now I do agree with that sentiment. It would be sweet to knock Clemson down a peg and take it to them.

But I'm always fascinated by these pronouncements that any game "makes the season". It's only in hindsight that this stuff becomes somewhat apparent. We could crush Clemson and not win another game. We could also lose to Clemson and not lose again. Why not just enjoy a big college football game for what it is, without trying to add the weight of the universe onto it?

Hey nc, I assume you have folks in NC. Trust and hope all is well for u and yours. THWG

While I agree that one game isn't necessarily a season maker, this game could be a Defining Moment for our future under Gailey's tenure.

We have proved we can play with anyone.
We have made watching Games fun again.
We have given ourselves an opportunity to make it back to the top tier of the ACC.
Our Players play hard every down.
Our coaches have produced superior game plans.

The Question is, can we win consistently against teams with similar talent?

Today's game should define what direction the season will take.

A top tier team or a developing also ran.

PLOW the BIG FAT FARMBOYS.

BDG, while it is nice that you give Gailey some credit (although your seem ready to pull any credit back if he loses to Clemson), i find it very interesting that you havent posted because you were "in shock"

i dont understand how you could be in shock, after all you should be beelieving that the Jackets will win every time that they step on the field

also, i bet if we would have lost to Auburn and looked bad against FSU, you would have posted at least 20-30 times about how Gailey needs to go, and how our program is falling apart

why not equal time for postitive outcomes???

if anything, as a fan, you should highlight the good and minimize the bad - is that what it means to support something (im not saying ignore the negative, or not do anything to correct them)

you're not ready to say that Gailey is a good coach, and im not ready to forget your negative stance

obviously you were wrong - the team is motivated, well-coached, and the schemes have been NFL quality on both sides of the ball

eat your crow, or no dessert!!!

Ball said we were going to win out, and he doesn't look like a liar to me, so I put faith in him.

I think that this game will tell us a lot about what to expect for the rest of the season. It probably will not tell us if we are a Wake Forest team that shows up and plays with anyone and wins some and loses some or a team that plays with the big boys and takes care of the little guys. In another words, is every game going to be a close dog fight or just the big ones.

Well....that was a cold slap of reality. The Auburn game, if not a mirage, was a cruel joke in it's current perspective.
.
My pre-season guess of 4-8 looks about right again.

I AM SICK OF THESE BLOWOUTS!!!! Losing a close, well-fought game is one thing. Losing like this is embarrassing and uncalled for, IMO!!!

GoldZ, thanks man. Everybody is doing okay. We lost power for about 14 hours but no damage to anything. The rest of the family was in pretty much the same boat.

I think both arguments are good. It is true, directions of a football team can change in a hurry from good to bad or vice versa.

However, there are many times after the season is over, where you can go back and define a particular game that led to a winning streak or a losing streak.

Hindsight is always 20/20. It does not harm anything to prognosticate ahead of time. That is the reason we are all coaches and sports analysts.
