Here’s an idea, we just quit telling people it has anything to do with Dixie, and keep doing it anyway.

That was the plan, as I understood it, from 20 years ago when I was in the band. Not sure what the impetus was to take it out. I hate to think it was someone in the band complaining but I suppose it's a possibility.

I’m disappointed that we no longer introduce Buzz and have him flip and hit the goal post. Buzz went from appearing on ESPN commercials and being a fixture in those “top mascot” contests to a non-entity in our own stadium, which is some bullshit.

I've wondered why we quit doing this also.

I cannot think of a simpler mechanism which simultaneously captures the suspense of the moment and sets the tone for you to blow your lid off after we make the stop. From beginning to end, that simple tune absolutely crushes it. The only other program I've heard mimic it is UNC. It was powerful and unique and it was trashed. Sad.
