SouthGa, the title of your post speaks volumes as to the crossroads our football program now faces.
We either get over the silly notion that 85 wonderfully talented young men with high character who score 850-1150 on their SATs, will somehow impact the academic value/standing/rating/reputation/perception/whatever, of the remaining TWELVE THOUSAND students who score 1300+ on their's and who can run a 5.8 forty and bench 110 Lbs., or we will IMO have to learn to live with 5 & 6 win seasons and 3/10 vs. ugag.

The actions or inaction on the part of our Admin. IMO does not reflect the level of importance GT football has in the hearts and minds of it's alumni base, and to the state as a whole (we ARE a STATE school by the way). Football's importance to GT is FAR from just being an interesting little diversion or source of entertainment. No the school charter doesn't mention excellence in football on the D-1 level or any level, but whose does? There's much more, but not for now. THWG

And what can bee done about it? More importantly, what WILL we do about it.

I agree 100%. There is no reason for our football program to suffer for the sake of "academic reputation". We are in the South, college football is part of our way of life. We should recruit the same kids that ugag, Auburn, Florida, FSU,etc. recruit so we can compete for the conference championship. Obviously once we get these athletes on campus, we will have to give them tremendous support, given our narrow list of majors, not turn our back on them like the Hill has done bringing on this fiasco.

GATA JACKETS!

texstinger, for starters, we have to write (not e-mail) the money gang, and cc: Clough even though he's part of the problem because he can be part of the solution. The obvious names to start with are: K.King,G.Morris,T.Anderson,D.Hearn,J.C.Shaw,The Tharpe Family,& T.Dupree. You can write them in care of The Tharpe Fund. THWG
