Coach Richt

Maybe it's hard for me to be objective and maybe I should keep this to myself, but I really think Coach Richt is a Grade-A pompous jerk. Two things from the Bama game.

(1) Obviously, his comments and tone at the halftime interview

and, even more revealing;

(2) What he said after the game. In the sound byte I heard from the post-game, he was talking about the first half as if he was totally removed from it. He talked about the 31-0 deficit as if it the result of some sort of natural disaster that was way beyond his control. It was all about how great he and the coaching staff and the team did to get up to play well in the 3rd quarter, to overcome this unfair advantage that was somehow inexplicably bestowed on Alabama in the first two quarters. As if he had no ownership or responsibility whatsoever for the first half. It was disgusting.

These things combined with the UF celebration last year, the generally smug demeanor, and holier-than-thou attitude, the overt attempts to manipulate the media (recently regarding Knowshon's pointless leap and last year regarding how the Dawgs deserved to play for the NC).

Between all that and just a ..... vibe I get off of him, I really think the guy is a five star asshole.

Am I off base?

Well, and let me be the first to admit that I too am often a pompous jerk, especially when talking about UGA. I guess the difference between jerks like me and jerks like Richt is that Richt and his disciples would have you believe that Richt is actually a humble, decent human being despite all the contrary evidence. I just don't get it.

When you don't have a daddy, you have to look up to somebody.

Are you just now coming to this conclusion?

Well, to be brutally honest, I have always SAID that Richt is a jerk because I am a life-long crazed Tech fan and he is the hated enemy. But lately I've been starting to actually BELIEVE that he is a jerk, even in the deepest most objective parts of my heart and soul. Actually it's a liberating, peaceful feeling. Now I can call him an asshole and not feel like a hypocrite! Life breakthrough. (John Cusack in High Fidelity: "I should have done this YEARS ago!")

Yes you are.

Everyone knows the scale for assholery is the basic 4 star scale like the standard one they use to rate movies.

Thus, while the said individual is indeed a 4 star asshole, calling him a "5 star" asshole is hyperbole, much like the sports cliche of giving "110%", which is impossible but sounds good especially to those who don't understand math past the 7th grade level (like say for example SEC football players).

Well hey, he adopted a kid, and like... really loves jesus and stuff...

Actually, he has gone to the Ukraine twice and adopted children...in addition to the two he already has. That is not something you enter into lightly...or get done easily.

Listen...I dislike UGA as much as anyone in the world. I pull for whoever is playing them in every sport, not just football. I even like to see them drop in US News and World Report education rankings!

As such, I have typically always disliked their coaches.

Yes...Richt has that pompous frat boy look to him. Of course, he is has some cockiness and over-confidence...he is a competitor. If he was not he would not have been a college QB at Miami and then gone into coaching. Is he perfect...far from it. He will do the wrong things...he will say the wrong things...and I have never heard him say he was perfect. Matter of fact, quite the opposite.

It is the Bulldawg Nation (hehehe)...that claims his perfection...just as many other colleges get about their coaches until they lose a few they should not.

Perfect? Far from it.
5-Star a*****e, far from it.

Do we have a better head coach?...I think so!!

Can someone recap what he said to the reporterette at halftime. I was at Taco Mac, watching the game with some 'Bammer fans, but couldn't hear what was being said. I turned to a friend and commented to him on the Rev. smartassed look on his face.

As far as his coaching: he is a good coach but not a
great coach as many dawgs believe. His coaching is not nearly as impressive when the other team has equal or better talent. On paper UGA should have beaten Bama this year.
Richt has built his record and reputation by having a
huge talent advantage over most of the teams he plays. He has proven that he is a great recruiter at a
school that is easy for a coach to be at least a good
recruiter.

Jim Donnan brought in great talent too, and it never amounted to a championship. With as many pro athletes as UGAg churns out, they should be in the top 3-5 every year.

WELL PUT. I can't wait to be there in November when GT adds serves UGA another heaping helping of HUMBLE PIE.

I don't recall exactly what he said, but the way he said it matched "the smartassed look on his face." So you picked up the gist of the interview.

Can't agree here Red. Richt is a cocky guy that got bullied yesterday and his reaction at halftime showed it. His actions suggest a spoiled punk underneath, just like his 51-7 drubbing of Tech, his Florida antics last year and his comments this year about running up the score in the game against Tech do.
