Coaches Poll Out

5 ACC teams tanked top 20. Not bad.

We got no votes.
Think Pitt and Miami are way too high. Glad they put NC State in. They are the sleeper, of the ACC. Clemson is about where I would of put them. But, I think; at the end of the year, the ACC has only 3 team in the top 25. Wake, Clemson and NC State. I think the Coastal is garbage and it will show... Miami maybe...maybe breaks into the top 25 with 8 wins.

Last year, Pitt had a once-in-a-generation season (their previous 11-win season was 1980), and regardless of who they bring back, they lost a 5-year starter and first-round NFL draft QB. Most teams that lose a QB like Pickett see a big drop off the next year, because it's very rare at non-factories to replace the impact of that player on the roster. Preseason forecasters are notorious for just plugging in the last year's final top-25, and shifting the names around. I predict that Pitt will be back to mediocrity by the time we play them.

Oh look 5 ACC teams and only 3 Big10 teams.

Seems we were right with them until 2019. I wonder what changed?
You really think it mattered who came in after CPJ not named Monken in 2019, 2020? Monken was the only way GT wasn’t going into a full rebuild. The alums wanted to go in a different direct offensively. So had GT hired Whiz, Elliot, etc instead, it wouldn’t have looked any better. The overhaul has been well documented at this point. That said there should have been a jump starting in 2021. By comparison, Mike Elko at Duke has a much easier rebuilding process.

So now it’s 2022 and people think GT can only succeed by going back to the spread option offense. While little Wake Forest full of 2-3* talent can run an uptempo RPO and have a top 5 offense in the country.

Truthfully the worst indictment of the current state of the program is through the “anonymous coach“ comments in Athlon’s saying “GT is as much a non factor for talent now, as they were under Paul Johnson.”

There is a lot of hate for The Canes on this board, but don't let your hate blind you to reality. Cristobal is a much better recuiter and a much better coach than Diaz, and he came along at the same time as a giant infusion of booster cash. As Dabo seems to be on the decline, Miami is most likely to be the next dominant power in the ACC. Deal with it.

WF is ridiculous. They beat no one of significance last season. They would lose all six teams ranked below them badly.

Let's play "Which week will be top 25?" I think it would have to be a 3-0 start after beating Ole Miss.

Of the ACC teams, I predict Pitt will not be top 25 at the end of the year.
Pitt is a puzzler to me. Lost too many impact players so they have to be rebuilding.

The guy runs a fake punt from the opponent’s 29 against base defense, but no it’s having the 6th most talented roster in the conference that was too much to overcome in 2020. :lol2:

Croots.

Seems the coaches don't think nearly as much of Ole Miss as the average poster here seems to think.

Looks like we have 5/25 on our schedule, with UCF, UNC and FSU also "getting votes." But did we dodge a bullet with no ND, NC State or Wake?

And can someone please to explain how Wake ööööing Forest has a football program which is so much better than Tech's???

If you were a southern coach trying to recruit the state of Miss, wouldn’t it be to your advantage if Ole Miss weren’t ranked?

Wake won't be there long... Hartman out indefinitely with non-football related medical condition. Hoping he gets through whatever it is. He seems like a good dude.

Wake starts the season with 3 very winnable games: VMI, Vanderbilt, and Liberty. Then they play Clemson, who they would likely lose to, anyway, so Hartmen being out might not hurt their record if he returns a month into the season.

6th most talent does’t mean GT had any OL nor have they had a decent DL since Johnson inherited the 2007 class from Gailey. So let’s not act like a bunch of 2-3* OL with offers from G5 schools recruited to run the spread option offense was the right pieces to the puzzle.

Nope. And very sad for that young man. He's a good QB and the reason why WF did so well.
