Coaching hot seat????

Lots of former OSU players have said they never even heard a peep of stuff like this. It would be hard for 18-20 year old egotistical kids to keep any secrets. Yet lots of prominent former players never even heard this as rumors. Funny how SI doesn't mention that they focused their interviews on players that were kicked off the team. I am sure some of these things did happen but not to the extent being claim.

Hope we get rid of Muschamp, I honestly never cared for him, think he sucks as a coach, oh yeah and he's a ugay graduate, that's probably the kicker right there. I have a feeling he could be on the hot seat soon if UF loses more games.

From Coach's hot seat.com:

Let’s make this very simple: Lane Kiffin is not remotely qualified to be the head football coach at USC.

All of the head coaches in I-A and over half of the assistant coaches are more qualified than Kiffin to be the head football coach at USC. We know dozens of high schools coaches that are more qualified to be the head coach at USC than Lane Kiffin and there must be thousands more that we have never heard of that not only could coach circles around Kiffin and his Gang, they would not be an absolute ass to boot!

Lane Kiffin is the head football coach at USC today because his Daddy is Monte Kiffin and thus Lane has “Kiffin” behind is name AND because three men in positions of power made three incredibly stupid decisions to hire Lane Kiffin as their head football coach.

1. The first man would be Al Davis who hired Lane Kiffin at the Oakland Raiders. Al Davis is crazy. Enough said.

2. The second man would be Mike Hamilton, AD at Tennessee. Kiffin’s agent went to Tennessee and somehow got Kiffin into the conversation at Tennessee and for some incredibly stupid reason Mike Hamilton hired him. If you could get Mike Hamilton into a room today and he would say that hiring Lane Kiffin was the right decision then Mike Hamilton should be fired on the spot. Stupid Is As Stupid Does and hiring Lane Kiffin at Tennessee was STUPID!

3. The third man is USC AD Mike Garrett. Now, we don’t know if Garrett was the only person involved in hiring Kiffin or not, but Garrett is the AD and we rather doubt that Kiffin would have been hired without Garrett’s approval. Maybe, but we doubt it. Still, Lane Kiffin was hired at USC and that was an incredibly stupid decision, even STUPIDER than the ones Davis and Hamilton made because of one very simple reason…”

That’s right…we wrote in the summer of 2010 that…

“Let’s make this very simple: Lane Kiffin is not remotely qualified to be the head football coach at USC.”

…and we repeat it again in September 2013 for the ones slow on the uptake OR for the Rhodes Scholars out there that have high IQs but don’t know their asses from the side of a barn:

“Let’s make this very simple: Lane Kiffin is not remotely qualified to be the head football coach at USC.”

lol!!
Yep enough said......best thing Lance has going for him is his poppa and his wife.

I think I figured out why USC hired Lane. They needed a dummy to take the job under the severe sanctions only to be fired once the probation is over. No legit coach in their right mind would do it, so their first call was to Lane.

Who else would be dumb enough to not see their scheme coming? As it is, they've been competitive enough to not fade into irrelevance recruiting-wise. They're in prime position to jettison Lane for whoever they really want once their scholarship limitations are over.

Brilliant!

I am amazed that Kiffin has somehow lucked into such high paying jobs. He has been a bumbling idiot wherever he has been. I sure would like to bang his wife. I think he is gone short of winning the remainder of his games and playing for the national championship. What Pete Carroll made has been totally destroyed.
Agree that he out kicked the coverage. But to be fair, he didn't build the house of cards so much as inherit it. Dunno if that's more the issue or not. Regardless, he screwed UT and that's reason enough to not like the man.

Kiffin is hurting USC's image. USC and Kiffin became the joke of college football. They might fire him even with 8 or 9 wins. (like Friedgen's 9 wins in his last season.)

If he loses to UCLA again, that's probably the final nail in the coffin.

But this is probably moot, Kiffin is going to crash and burn.

Kiffin is only part of the problem though. It's easy to find a scapegoat, and they certainly should have won more games than they did last year (at least would have with a remotely competent head coach), but USC became a joke starting with Carroll's departure, Reggie Bush, OJ Mayo, and a general loss of institutional control, etc. Kiffin is just more fuel to the fire.

Besides the point. Kiffin is completely incompetent at anything other than recruiting. Now that daddy's gone I don't see a lot of wins in his future.

Absolutely correct !!

Former USC AD Mike Garrett allowed all kinds of blatantly unethical things to happen.

Kiffin was hired as HC by USC AD Mike Garrett in January 2010.

Mike Garrett was canned in August 2010.

Pat Haden was hired as USC AD on August 2010.

IMO, Garrett brought in former USC OC Lane Kiffin to help (ahem) sweep their NCAA problems under the rug.

Haden, who is HIGHLY respected would NEVER have allowed Kiffin to be hired in the first place. But Haden was stuck with Kiffin, thanks to Garrett. And like OP stated, no other HC worth a öööö would step into that mess.

Haden is former NC-winning USC QB. A very smart and accomplished guy.

Haden will find the right guy.

IMO, if it's not Saban, it'll likely be John Gruden.

As far as Mack Brown goes, it could be pretty safe to say that he would be fired by now if not for Vince Young. Larry Coker also won a championship, with perhaps the most talented team in the history of college football, and he was also eventually fired.

I still find it hard to believe that Larry freaking Coker won a national championship. That team was UNBELIEVABLY talented. They had 17 first round picks on that roster, and a total of 38 players drafted. When somebody like Willis McGahee can't even crack the 2-deep, you know you've got some ridiculous talent.

I think it's fair to say that there will never be another team that talented. Even Alabama's best teams of late pale in comparison.

 You back, huh?

I can see ibee's suggestion (in another thread I think) of del Rio to USC.

Gary Patterson would be good there but probably isn't a big enough pizzazz guy.

ETA: Also, forgot Sarkisian (sp?) at Washington.

I doubt that Haden will hire someone with ties to the Pete Carroll era and I doubt that he will hire an NFL coach just because ESPN and message boards believe those coaches are candidate for every head coach position at a top flight football factory.

This is going to be a difficult year to hire a head coach. Texas and USC are probably hiring. And possibly UF, although that is very doubtful as UF won 11 games looking like absolute crap last year. They'll probably still win 8-10 games this year.

Let's not forget that Iowa also might be looking for a coach.

Some of the more attractive coaching candidates out there don't appear ready or willing to leave their schools (BYU,Boise St, Northwestern, TCU, Texas Tech), no matter how wonderful the offer. All of those coaches have very deep roots at the schools they coach.

Dave Clawson at Bowling Green is set for a big year and has recruiting connections int he midwest and South, but he's probably not a great bet for a factory, given his awful performance as OC at Tennessee in 08.

That's going to leave USC and Texas with the difficulty of finding the right NFL assistant to take over their programs or another Jim Mora type, someone who will do will at the college game.

It's also entirely possible that the Ok St scandal could unseat head coaches at OK St and LSU.

This is not the year to be hiring a coach unless you have no choice. USC and Texas don't have a choice.
