COJ getting out coached .....

With all due respect, this sort of talk is always shouted down in relation to CPH. The same can be said for him not missing free throws, not turning over the ball, not taking stupid shots, not missing layups, etc.

The coach didn't have the team prepared for LSU knowing that Les Miles always throws in wrinkles (like early onside kicks). And LSU was prepared for a crazy play like a fake punt inside the 30.

The penalties, turnovers, etc. are what prevented LSU from being a top 10 team this year. They have been on the other side of this situation most of the year. The talent was always there, yet many assumed since they had a couple of bad games and we had a couple of good ones that this would be a cakewalk.

If we do have a better team as many contended we do, then it is the job of the coach to get them ready to play.

In summary, still a CPJ fan, but yeah, he has clearly gotten outcoached, both in the game and in preparation. He is the head coach and therefore is responsible for everything on the field. He is not just an offensive coordinator.
 
This is the first game the dubious "SEC speed" moniker is a factor (compared to the Miss St and UGA games). LSU's top 10 recruiting classes clearly shows (2009 projected to be #1 with the top QB coming out of Houston). LSU is faster to the perimeter, and we can not between the guards. They simply have better athletes. We need our full 85 allotment of schollys, and an entire secondary that plays like Burnett. The difference in the game is their O and D lines, and our youth (16 starters as frosh and sophs are being exposed).

It wasn't the speed; we've played fast teams before successfully. Miles realized he had to give us something and he decided to make Nesbitt beat him. He didn't try to take away everything, just our favorite weapons. And the LSU defense learned discipline that they never had during the year.

Exactly. We had receivers open but Josh/OL couldn't get them the ball. I am confident we'll have a passing game when we need it by next season.

I'm back from the game. I physically left at the half, but mentally I checked out after that ridiculous fake punt on our own 20.

This was about as bad as it gets and a tough way to end the season. JN had the worst game of his career --he was missing and missing badly. Offsides penalties, personal fouls, muffed punts, missed tackles, going for 4th down on your own 20. It was bad --but it's over.

9-4 made for a good season, just would have preferred to end it on a positive note. The opening kickoff going out of bounds just seemed to set the tone for the evening.

Josh needs to become more accurate if we are going to move into the upper echelon of FBS. Until then we'll always be a fringe team.

I'm confident that CPJ will have it remedied by time JSU comes to BDS.
 
I am on my way home. It was the most awful feeling sitting there and getting the soup beat out of a really good team.

I sarcastically pointed out to the many folks I invited over that the wind must really be howling inside the dome tonight.

But I thought the tone for the evening's a$$ whoopin was set by the perfect touchdown pass that was knocked out of DT's hands as he came down with it. That's when I began to think that things might not be going our way this evening.

I was soooo pissed when I saw the football knocked out of his hands after catching it.
