Collins on Packer and Durham - 2/3

We’ve probably got until the end of March in order to can Stansbury. It will take us until May to have a replacement in the seat. He needs Jun-Aug to take stock of the major programs and assess our financial situation/ develop a strategy. The focus Sep-Oct needs to be on identifying a new basketball coach, Oct-Nov on the football coach.

296 days to go until the Great GT Catharsis.
No offense, but öööö basketball. It doesn't affect the bottom line and isn't worth buying out coaches there given everything else we're facing. Don't extend contracts, replace when the term is up. You only need 5 on the court, so don't buy into the recruiting will tank reasoning for having more than a year left on that contract. Make him leave on his own accord.

He needs to quit with the hyperbole. Hasn't he learned that he needs to underpromise and overdeliver? He's setting himself up to get canned and doesn't even realize it. Idiot.

What in God's name did that mean?
He’s trying to wedge being a player’s coach against all the crap he’s getting from the big donors, fans, analysts and even marginally interested people like my wife. It’s his only play left.

What in God's name did that mean?
1982Jacket clarified that it meant smoking weed LOL.
Meshes well with the 2nd HIGHEST recruiting class in Tech History
Didn't the city of Atlanta decriminalize the possession of small amounts of pot?

He’s really great. Just being held back by his circumstances. Another program out there could really benefit from his services and should snatch him up immediately. If only a brilliant AD could see it.
"And if any AD doesn't see it, it's because they don't WANT to see it."

Tstan needs to be gone before December so a competent AD can hire Collins' successor.
Stansbury chained his future here to Collins's success or failure. If Collins fails, Stansbury is out with him.

Garrett:
“I think the fact that Todd has linked his career at Georgia Tech to Geoff’s success – and I think that’s really important to know that he did that – is a positive because certainly it indicates that the administration is all in with this working and willing to accept the consequences if it doesn’t,” Garrett said.
Garrett said he did see Stansbury’s further employment at Tech being contingent on the success of Collins’ own tenure.
“That’s certainly the way I see it,” Garrett said. “Didn’t he say, ‘I’ve got my man’? He’s got his man. He’s going to have to ride him.”

Again, it must suck to donate that much money and have so little influence that you feel the need to go to the AJC to be heard.

y'all see the part where he said he needed to be on field in 12 minutes? i found that kind of odd .. like he was hurrying them along.

Jesus ööööing Christ man.
Oh, let's see....
Appearances on P&D: 12
Wins in three seasons: 9.

Yeah, let's not remind him or ourselves of this ööööshow in front of our eyes in the fall.
Hey, at least he's consistent.

Second highest recruiting class ever at Tech?
Why would he tell such an incredulous lie??
if challenged about it (P&D sure won't),
he's just going to blame the guru guy he cited (at 3:20 Mike Flynn?) and then say miscommunication with the 2020 class...
(This 2022 class at #46 overall wouldn't even be in the top 5 classes of CPJ's tenure - U can check this on 247)
but i think we know that Gooff does this crap deliberately.

Think he's referencing what I saw on ramblinwreck.com : "8 of 13 signees.... were 4-star prospects.....Rivals [lists] 2nd highest concentration of 4 star recruits since it began its rankings in 2002, trailing only the famed 2007 recruiting class..."
