Collins speaks

Do we assume by this he's taking on the DC role and Thacker is basically second in command?

A lot on KQ's Twitter. I guess he's doing his NSD presser.

Good read. Nice to have some good news, and he is at least saying the right things with regard to what needs to change. Even acknowledged less "culture" and more football.

Proof will be in the pudding of course, but if you look at this as the beginning of next season then it's a good start.

Maybe Collins literally hasn’t been coaching at all. And only focusing on recruiting, the culture, marketing, etc..

This would be fine if our coordinators were top notch. I was pretty high on Thacker after the UNC game. My oh my, what a crappy end to the season.

To self-identify himself as an 'elite defensive coach' after the past three years' defensive efforts seems really tone-deaf. But I shouldn't judge anyone based on hearsay in a Tweet.

Just pretend I took the time to insert your earlier posts to the effect that perception of coach press conferences is less dependent on the content than on the results.

Maybe, it wasn’t very clear. I think there was an implication that Tillman would be the pass defense coordinator so maybe Thacker will be the run defense coordinator.

I don’t like the sound of that. I guess if Collins calls the defense on Gameday then that is a change.

I would be absolutely fine with him saying nothing to the fans at this point and let the team‘s actions during games do his talking. I’m all onboard with him talking to 14-18 year olds a certain way on social media but don’t try that on grown folks. All that matters is game day performance. He‘s a nice guy and just wants to be accepted and loved. I’m all for that but the only thing that matters are wins or progress. I’m rooting for the head coach of GT.
