Collins will be fired mid-season next year if…

he needs to be fired now

Edit:

We scored none on UGA:
Gibbs goes to Bama:
Scores a ton next year, especially on UGA:
We are screwed.

He will be fired if he is 1-5 or 0-6. Key will be interim coach.

I feel like if there is any willingness to fire him midseason then just fire him now. It'll be the same price
Yeah there’s no point in firing him mid season.

Also I realized today what a clown Kirby is. Gave me hope for the future. Apparently a clown can play in a conference championship game and make the playoffs if he’s surrounded by people who have some football knowledge. Now just waiting on Todd to öööö up the OC hiring.

Gefoff should’ve been fired Nov 28. If he’s not fired in the next week or two, he won’t be until after next season.

He'll be fired after he loses game 2. If he somehow doesn't lose game 2, he will probably be fired between game 4 and game 6. The buyout "savings" is irrelevant, we had the money available to fire him this year, but Todd chose to tie his job to Collins and give him one more year. Waiting until the end of the season to fire is how you end up with leftovers and another öööö coaching hire.

Is there any legal wiggle room in the buyout, where we search for and find a coach during the season that takes over after 2022, but Geoff is still coaching during the season to get the buyout reduction we apparently need?

I don't think there would be anything legally preventing it unless something was put into the contract with Collins specifically to do so. Issue would more be player and recruit reactions to us naming a future new head coach while keeping the old one around a bit longer.
