We do not have to fire him mid-season to replace the AD and have the new AD lock in a new coach to be announced as soon as the season ends. He'll be fired after he loses game 2. If he somehow doesn't lose game 2, he will probably be fired between game 4 and game 6. The buyout "savings" is irrelevant, we had the money available to fire him this year, but Todd chose to tie his job to Collins and give him one more year. Waiting until the end of the season to fire is how you end up with leftovers and another öööö coaching hire.
