Just heard on ESPeeN that Colt McCoy texted a get-well-soon message to Sam Bradford. Anyone else wonder about the circumstances under which these two guys would exchange phone numbers? I would be furious if I heard that our guys were texting happy-happy-joy-joy stuff to UGAy players.

Probably at the heisman trophy award ceremony. Wouldnt bother me cause I dont like to see anybody get injured.

I'm not saying I want injuries. I'm just saying that I don't want caring relationships to be forged between our guys and the enemy.

The AJC had an article on Jarrett Jack's sidekick and he had the numbers of just about anybody and everybody, including competing players. I'm sure it would be easy enough to meet in camps or through friends one has playing on another team.

Well if you have even watched one College Football Live, you'd know they became friends at Peyton Mannings QB camp. They did an entire special on it on College Football Gameday.

I'm sorry; I must have been busy watching my DVDs of Todds Taste of the Town.

Better that than reruns of Dr. Lou.

In all seriousness, the subject of Bradford and McCoy's friendship has been talked about at every opportunity on ESPN's College Live and Gameday to the point where it has become disgusting.

I couldn't care less. It's not as if they are going to go easy when they play each other because they're friends. In fact, winning might be even more important due to the bragging rights that come with winning.

I think it shows an uncommon degree of perspective and maturity in someone so young. I would be proud of any of our guys who did that.

I guarantee you that our players text, and God forbid even call, UGA players on a regular basis..as well as players from other schools. Even our coaches do...Bohannon and Bobo are friends. The players want to beat their friends even worse! Many of our players grew up playing with kids on other teams...they are long-time friends...they are going to communicate...and they are not going to wish injury to the other school.

+1 Anyone who doesn't think kids maintain their high school friendships and/or make new ones during recruiting is fooling them selves. Especially with all the GA players we've recruited, you just know they are constantly talking/texting their buddies at ugag.

They have been hyping them all pre-season like that Dan and Dave thing they did for the Olympic decathelon a few years back - looks like it is going to work out about like that did.

Well you can go ahead and get mad b/c our guys and UGA's players trade texts/calls all the time.

Exactly. Some of these kids of known each other for a long time. Abandoning your friends in their darkest hour(being hurt - bad, being in Athens - worse) would be the worst kind of friend.

Why is this news?

Some of the greatest GT players of all time had brothers or cousins that played for UGA. Like Shawn Jones for example. His brother was the starting LB for the Bulldogs.

I have no problem with this. As has been discussed already in this thread, these guys had friendships prior to packing bags for their respective colleges of choice --including those who headed to Atlanta or Athens.

I'm a fan of GT football and with that comes the fact that I am not a fan of UGA. But that's all I am --a fan (albeit I'm the very rare case of being a grad of one but a supporter of the other).

What do I care if these guys are communicating and maintaining their friendships --great for them. As long as the GT guys are knocking their friends on their a$$es on Saturday (or Thursday as the case may be) then I'm happy.

GiveEmHell just needs to sit back and down a couple of Smirnoff Ice and relax. ;)

Are you sure it wasn't the Matt Stafford spoon camp?
