Coming out in force

Well, the area of the student section I was in wasn't. We got the big lead and people started to let up, not pay attention, etc. It just pisses me off when people at the game aren't paying attention. And then, when we started to let the lead slip, the intensity went down because people got the feeling that we were going to lose. It's our job to will the team to victory. Also, we have some of the dumbest fans in the world (again, referring to students). When our offense has the ball, STFU!
 
I hope the fraternities and sororities and the students outside of swarm step up and cheer like swarm for at least this game. if any game this year make it this...please....
 
Lets break it down.
1) Our offense vs their defense, after the FSU game I'd say even. No advantage either way.

2) Our defense vs their offense, advantage VT. If we played like we did against FSU we will get rocked.

Thought for the week: Fans are supposed to be quiet on offense and loud when your team is on defense. Considering this is the only part of the game that VT has an advantage it is up to us as fans of GT to come out and help them out to level the playing field by being ridiculous. Frats: just wait to get wasted after the game b/c we need your power to be loud. Students: it's your school so cheer for them and support them. Parents/Alumni: You went here and you see where we are going, it isn't hard to yell or clap or make noisemakers. Fans: you're a fan so be a fan, support your team!
 
Well, we need the alumni to stand during non 3rd down situations and make some noise too. Especially in the West Stands.

I will be in the South Zone in the student sections, making noise, and forcing everyone around me to make noise.

Apologies if I piss you off in advance, but if I do, you probably deserved it for not supporting the team to your utmost.
 
Wow, you guys are making some blanket statements about "frats"... Don't be so cocky. My fraternity is early to every game just like swarm and has started cheers countless times... In basketball we are at every game, and once last year were asked to come down and wear swarm shirts because there weren't enough of you guys on the court... It may be true that some fraternities come to the games late and are drunk (though normally still loud), but the general student body has that problem a lot of the time... Don't stereotype or maybe some of us will start pointing out some of the very dumb things swarm has done as well...


The whole fan base needs to come out and be nuts for this game... It is homecoming and there is no reason not to be there... If you have a tech degree you can afford to get some tickets if your not a sth, and bring some friends along with you in gold... This game is HUGE! This isn't the clemson game. Hell, it should rank higher than the UGA game later considering whats going on with them... COME OUT AND GIVE THESE STUPID HOKIES A ROASTING!!! They stole a game away from us last year, and I'm not sure if you remember, but the last time they came into our house they humiliated us, they taunted us, they were disrespectful to us... They think they are "Americas team", lets show them how bobby dodd can roar... To hell with Lane stadium... We have the winningest football stadium in D1 history, lets add another win to the history books and kick these VPI people out of OUR STATE!
 
Sorry, but I said Frats in general because I know that most (not all) were not always cheering, as in leaving in the 3rd/4th quarter to go drink. Although it might not be you the majority don't stay and support, I mean have it a homecoming competition or something to see who can be the loudest during the game or something I don't care. Also, I mentioned the fan base and student sections.

15 minutes after kickoff they start to sell the unclaimed student tickets, but students have caught on to that and actually show up to games on time now...

I'm really not sure I have ever seen a substantial number of fans in the fraternity blocks leave before the end of the game in a big game. Maybe Jax st, and I agree that its wrong to do that, but again its not "frats" its fans, look at the rest of the stadium. I'm just not appreciating the criti**** when we are in many cases just as supportive of tech athletics as swarm. Case in point, there isn't a swarm block at baseball... but we are at every game and are generally the loudest supporters.

And on that bombshell, GO TO THE GAME AND BE LOUD AS ****!
 
lol that would be good. Unfortunately I believe those and air horns are banned. I did find something good though. Empty milk jugs, water bottles, etc. filled with random things like coins, rice, beans and such. They are crazy loud. Or if you want to go buy some the thunder sticks that you blow up and hit together.

Isn't that sort of the point, to be obnoxious and annoy VT? (they annoy me too but if we bother VT with them doesn't bother me as much anymore)

I'm going to buy them in bulk.

I'm going to buy them in bulk so that I can burn them and have that many fewer thundersticks in existence. Those are one of the factors contributing to the rapid, rapid decline of the pro sports gameday experience. Do you really want to send college football down the same road(we're already part of the way there with huge video boards and obnoxious sound systems)?

i hate thunder sticks. yet, that is exactly why i encourage people to get them and annoy the $#%$# out of VT.

Good to hear. Move that up to 20 minutes prior to kickoff, so the entire North stands would be somewhat full when the Reck takes the field and we are making progress.
