Offensive lineman Freddie Burden received the offer he’s been seeking this weekend from Georgia Tech, and wasted no time in showing the coaching staff how serious he was about committing to the program.

“I’ve always wanted to go to Georgia Tech,” Burden said. So he waited patiently for the coaches to finally see what they needed to see in the senior from Statesboro (GA) High School and extend an offer his way.
On Saturday, Burden sat down and met with head coach Paul Johnson to discuss where they stood. It was then when Johnson informed Burden that there was an official offer with his name on it. Burden didn’t wait long, letting Johnson know on Sunday morning that he was committing to Georgia Tech.
“I was just so happy,” Burden said. “I told my family and they were just ecstatic because this is a dream come true.”
The weekend visit was Burden’s second trip to the campus since November, when he made a trip to watch the Yellow Jackets’ victory over Clemson. Spending this weekend with lineman Errin Joe hosting him was the final confirmation that Atlanta was where he belongs.
“I really fell in love with the coaches and players,” Burden said. “Errin is a really good guy.”
Burden was also impressed with student life, calling the dorms “the best I’ve seen yet.” Even better, he got to spend a lot of time with fellow commit Michael Summers, his high school teammate and childhood friend. Committing to the Yellow Jackets with Summers along for the ride only made it sweeter for Burden. “We’ve been doing it together since we were five years old, so why not continue that at Georgia Tech?” Burden said who was noticeably psyched when asked about playing college football for the same program as his friend. Now that he intends to be a Yellow Jacket, Burden just wants to communicate one thing to the Georgia Tech fan base: he has loved the program since he was young, and he can’t wait to play his first game on the Flats
