What was the deal with the first down they gave Miami when it was clearly 2 mm short. Fowler even said something to the tune of, "Well I guess they're going to give it to them."

That totally cost us the game! [TIC]

They scored on that drive, so if you subtract the points they would have gotten and added the points we would have scored after the touchdown, we clearly should have won that game. :)

It was literally the smallest distance I've ever seen in-between the marker and the ball.

But there was still distance... and it would've made it 4th down. I hope the refs come out this week and admit that it was an illegal first down.

It looked clearly like 4th on TV but the refs called it 1st easily. I didn't see our coaches real upset about it either. I bet the camera just wasn't in line with the ball/stick and made it look off.

Very good point. I hadn't thought of the possibility that the camera angle made it appear as if the ball was short. That makes sense. Good call.

Looked pretty dead-on center from what I could see. More likely the ref's angle was a little off.

Anyway, it was supposed to be more of a joke than anything. It didn't really change the face of the game at all.

I had thought about the camera angle too...but when it zoomed out it appeared that the camera was actually positioned slightly behind the ball, which would make the gap look even smaller than it actually was.

I am still WTF about this...not that it matters at all.
