O'l is the best....
UCF is mediocre by anyone's definition. What's his record vs. USF? He is 15-25 in his 4th season and has them millions of dollars in debt because after all his solution to building a program is paying him lots of money while the school goes into debt it can't afford.

Sorry folks - I'm having trouble getting excited about any dishonest individual that has turned his back on our program in the manner that GOL did. I don't wish him any harm but neither do I wish him well in building UCFs program. I'd just as soon forget about him.

at least when he left Tech it was for a better coaching position.. unlike "tech man" Bill Curry who made a LATERAL move to Alabama...
His UCF team put up a better fight against Texas than we did against BC and VA. Quit your crying. No one in their right mind would turn down a chance to coach Notre Dame. Now what idiot would want to goto Alabama is what amazes me..

I can understand being upset with O'Leary leaving but i don't understand why we can't show some respect for the man and appreciation for what he accomplished here.
He's been a part of most of the great moments GT has had in my lifetime.

nope, but you can offer congrats on building a nice little prg at UCF or you can just keep your trap shut... He did a lot for us and I am always surprised at the level of crybaby ingrates we have in our fanbase.
In the past 20 years, Tech has only had a few "special" seasons, and OLeary is the ONLY coach that was there for ALL of them.. as an assistant or head coach.

You can't hate the man for accepting a promotion. I don't know how much kool-aid you have to drink to be blinded to the fact that Notre Dame is a "national" program and is a much higher profile job than GT.

Mike Kruczek was 36-30 in 6 years at UCF and got fired. Since O'Leary took over he is 14-25. Kruczek's signature win was over Alabama in Tuscaloosa. O'Leary's signature win is a "moral victory" loss to Texas in Orlando.
Can you explain exactly what O'Leary is "building"?
The fact is the worst mistake GT made in coaches recently was Olry. Before he hired Fridgen, he didn't do crap and afterward it was the same. We should have hired Fridgen, not Olry. Someone has already pointed out his record at uCF vs his predecessor. My main point is this is a GT board and would just as soon let Olry and UCF posts be on the UCF board, not ours.

As far as I can see, O'Leary has achieved less than his predecessor. I don't understand how that is "building" anything. If 3 years at the helm is supposed to be a "work in progress", then 3 years after he took over Kruczek's record was 20-13, compared to O'Leary's 12-24.
Try not to confuse FACTS with HATE.
I think I have it figured out now, though. For you, results don't matter, O'Leary is great by virtue of being O'Leary. This makes perfect sense for a Minister of Propaganda.
