Could Be Worse - At Least We Don’t Have Mel Tucker

They are a bit of a dumpster fire right now, but they do have an incredibly stacked freshman class that isn't going to get worse. They also have another 3 5-star commits this year (in a small class). They should pillage the transfer portal hard this year to plug some holes and try to find a QB. As much as I love watching that cult fall on their face, I think they'll bounce back quickly with all of that talent.
Does a stacked freshman class mean much these days? All it takes is max exodus out the portal and there they go bye bye.

It really shows how terrible of business men these schools/owners/managers/franchises are. I can guaran-damn-tee you these guys can be locked down for half a million to a million a year and I'm talking the players/coaches at the top of their game.

All you have to do is collaborate to reset the market. What are these guys gonna go do? Coach highschool football for 70k a year? The öööö society does is actually getting really stupid when you are paying first responders who save lives 45k but pay these losing chucklenuts tens of millions.

It's the equivalent of paying a painter 25k to show up at your house, put the wrong color on only half finished and then walk away with a 10k bonus.

These guys can still make extra off endorsements but the base they're promised is literally one of the dumbest ideas I have ever seen.
You make an interesting argument. The question I have is how do you collaborate to reset the market? Could this be done and is it contrary to our free market system?

"collaborate to reset the market" That would largely be illegal.

Yeah. With the money they are paying, I think they can keep it together.

All you have to do is getting dozens of billion dollar institutions to collude and expose themselves to the type of hugely expensive antitrust lawsuit Big Tech got hit with when they did that about a decade ago.

This is even more crazy than the Jimbo contract. Jimbo at least has a national title and a record of being a pretty good coach. Tucker had a 7 or 8 game run and got close to $100 million. MSU will regret this for a long time.
agree. As a minority hire it will take them twice as long to dump him. He has the media on his side, saying how "tough" he was in suspending the thugs who went out of control in the tunnel. The media even said he showed how a real coach deals with discipline issues and showed up Saban. Ha !

I live in the heart of Aggie country, they're giving Jimbo a pass because of the youth.
Except they bought that youth and it shows in they give zero ****s being rent-a-player mercenaries that smoke weed in the locker room and get suspended, for example. Who cares about rules when you already have a million$ in the bank and that transfer portal will give you more $$$ next year.

I think you're underestimating the scale of wealth these mega-boosters have. A coaching contract is chump change at that level and those billionaires already have anything else they can conceive of. A few billionaires joining forces to put up $50 M over 10 years is like a group of us signing up to each write a $5,000 check every year.

I mean, Joe Rogan got a $100,000,000 deal to literally just shoot the öööö on his unscripted podcast. $100,000,000 for the demands of being an elite college football head coach just isn't really that much for how passionate people are about CFB.

This is probably the real issue. I don't know how you fix it.

Sure it can be done. Anti-trust exist to protect the consumer. This is labor related. The coaches could choose to unionize and that would be their right, but just because a union exists doesn't mean the labor gets paid 3 mil/yr. They first have to negotiate in good faith. The majority of these coaches would be hard pressed to explain how winning 3 games/yr is worth a million bucks. If an agreement isn't reached, the union strikes and the schools can bring in replacement workers for significantly less.

This isn't remotely in the realm of anti-trust.

I wonder if the suspended players have already received all of their NIL money? If not I can’t imagine any company being stupid enough to pay any money to a suspended player.

Guaranteed that's what happens to Jimbo this year

That öööö was crazy. Maybe Michigan should invest in 2 tunnels?
