CPJ, in the Rocks voice, "It doesn't matter what you think"

Coaching, Johnson said, “is one of the few jobs that 100 percent of the people can do better than you.”

Just Johnson deflecting again.

I don’t think I can do a better job than him. I’m an engineer, I design things that blow up other things. Probably couldn’t recruit for shit.

I just think we can find someone else that can.

Johnson acknowledged that the team has to play better, but added that “there is a lot of revisionist history that goes on here, too.” Johnson was referring to what he perceives as fans measuring him against expectations that don’t match what Tech has accomplished since Bobby Dodd’s retirement at the end of the 1966 season.

Coach, You weren't hired to maintain the status quo.

This quote bothers me, seems like AJC putting a lot of words in his mouth

They’re not wrong. CPJ had a 9 win season two seasons ago and an orange bowl five seasons ago. He’s had some higher highs than GT’s had with other coaches. The issue losing fans is that, for a variety of internal and external reasons, CPJ doesn’t look like he has much of a path forward if GT is going to become more competitive. The past two seasons are becoming a trend.

CPJ didn’t say that at all. According to the article he agrees with fan complaints.
“You just don’t listen,” Johnson said. “You don’t pay any attention to it. I mean, the best you can. I learned a long time ago, the people who don’t like you – it doesn’t matter – you’re not going to change their mind, and if you’re winning, they just crawl under a rock somewhere or they don’t say much. And when you start losing, they all come out. That’s just the nature of the beast.”
He isn't wrong.

Gee Coach,
When you are losing and your team looks like crap, caring folks get a bit irritated.-- no s---, Sherlock.

This is the main issue for me. I'm not convinced we'll get someone who will do better with the hand we have to play. I'm not saying you don't try at some point when what your doing isn't working, but I see Stansbury addressing some of the core issues that have to be improved before we can have success regardless of who's coaching.

I dont think he realizes that he's losing his long time supporters, it's not just his haters anymore.

I have supported CPJ up until very recently. Fundamentally, his problem is that while he has always had low points there was a bounce back up to a high point shortly thereafter. In the last few years there does not seem to be the corresponding bounce back. In my mind, supporting CPJ or not is a judgment call based on whether there is another bounce-back season coming. I am now skeptical about whether there is another 9+ win season coming soon.

Correct me if i am wrong but, when he came here did he not say he could win and compete for championships. My how his outlook has changed.
