CPJ makes list of top #25 coaches...

I don't agree with that list at all, except for maybe the first couple. Spurrier, Bowden? They were good in their prime, not right now.

This looks less like a rating of coaches and more like a mix of putting the coach where the schools rank is and mentioning coaches that were good but without count the bad performances.

How can you knock Bowden and Spurrier? 99% of the coaches would love to have their track record. If Spurrier had the talent of Stoops, or Brown, or Carroll, he would have easily have won the MNC. I do not like him, but he put UFL on the map and knocked the dawgs down, long before anyone had heard of Urban.

I agree. It's hard to knock those guys. I'm not real sold on Bowden anymore, but I think Spurrier could easily put USCe back on the map. Remember that this list is ranking the coaches, not the teams.

I agree that the measuring stick is weak but the recognition is nice

One rough season makes that much difference? RichRod has had a pretty good track record as heach coach.

I'm not commenting on whether he deserves to be there right now or not, I just don't like the guy. Hence me "throwing up" rather than ranting about why it's not true.

I don't know what you're talking about. I love DickRod...

This poll is pretty poorly put together. It seems to be a muddle of career achievement mixed with what have you done lately.
