what a joke!!:laugher:

From the criteria for eligibility:

To be a finalist, a coach must NOT have:
  • Major program infractions assessed by the NCAA in the current year (2008) at the school he represents

Think this is the problem?

If Saban wins I think I might puke. What a joke. How could anyone expected to win 3 games and ends up winning 9 as well as end a 7 year losing streak to a rival not be a finalist. Preseason 80 to 14? WTF

its because he is going straight to...

COACH OF THE DECADE

The only thing I can think of so far is APR (Academic Progress Rating) stuff. The rules say:

To be a finalist, a coach must NOT have:
  • Major program infractions assessed by the NCAA in the current year (2008) at the school he represents
  • APR penalties assessed to his program by the NCAA in the last two reporting periods
  • Major integrity violations during 2008 (also applies to members of coach's staff)
I looked for our APR report and found it at http://www.ncaa.org/wps/ncaa?ContentID=329

I don't know much about APR or whether we have a good or bad rating.

Go to the COY web site and check out the 'committee', a bunch of yankees and big 10 has beens, just a few from the SEC or ACC.

Looks like the Northeast Liberal media wins again this year for 'their left side".

Haven't all of the restrictions been lifted on Tech? That's why we're allowed to have our full 85 schollies now.

What a load of horses*#t! I think it's further proof of a general bias against Johnson and his offensive scheme. I'm utterly shocked to say the least...

I can understand them all but Tressel. With all that talent returning, how do you honor a coach that got blown out in its biggest game and lost its biggest home game?

But those that are bitching, you need to look at reality:
- GT did not win its division, much less conference
- Lost 3 games including 2 to unranked teams in UNC (by 3 TDs) and UVA (at home)

Preseason predictions, blah blah blah. This Tech team won 7 games last year and fired its coach. So there was talent, just not good coaching of said talent. Given that does it make sense to say that a coach that won 2 more games than the last guy is that great that he should be COTY?
