CPJ Radio Show

This is one of the those years where if we can beat the dawgs we can imagine vindication. Waytogo CPJ! Waytogo in your recruiting 1AA talent "to fit your system." Hasn't worked out so well has it, Paul? Run it up the middle?

Yea didn't work out so well when we won the Orange Bowl last year. go away.

Yeah, he'd never try something completely new offensively after two losses, like, you know, run no-huddle the whole game or something.

You're right, that was the only possible adjustment he could make.

yet everyone bitches when he signs 5 AB's every february.

Except we only signed 1 in 2012 (D Andrews) and 1 in
2013 (D Wilson).

This two year gap is what created the gaping hole in experience at the position and the need to sign a ton this past class.

If we had four Jr./Sr. A-backs and one B-back, we would be feeling much better and the edge blocking wouldn't be such a disaster.

Laskey could have been a RS senior this year had he not returned punts for 5 games as a true freshman. Sure would have been nice to have him this year to help keep the offense focused and stable.

I'm sure he made no other adjustments whatsoever. The "block the right guy," "don't get injured," and "don't fumble the ball" adjustments weren't available.

Crazy overreaction on this board. I don't know if we'll beat Clemson but it'll certainly be a competitive game.

PJ early seemed to take an extra "pony A-back" in a class (like Zenon )but forgot to get DLs .So we ended up with lots of backs that culminated in SIX SR backs last yr,then kicked off Andrews. So we end up screwed--we are always short something.

I don't think he "forgot" to recruit DLs. He's talked before about how that position is the toughest to recruit.
09-Jay Finch and JC Lanier recruited as DTs. Signed as DEs were Crenshaw, Cross, Cummings and Dieke
10-Denzel McCoy and Shawn Green at DT.
11-Chaz Cheeks, Jimmie Kitchen and Kyle Travis signed as DEs.
12-Gotsis, Rook-Chungong and Kallon
13-Akins, Robbins, Commissiong and what should have Gnonkonde.

Not only did we lose Wilson, we lost Custis (possible B-back) and both Autrys, not to mention Travin Henry.

we are always short something.

That's generally always the case unless you have a couple of things going on, either:
A) You get tons of talent every year so what few bodies you might not need as much depth to succeed every game.
B) You over sign a lot so you don't have depth issues
C) You fill in gaps with lots of junior college transfers
