Come on guys, this was lightweight stuff. There weren't even any insults hurled. Unless BOR is calling you an "ignorant dumb****" then he's probably absentmindedly typing this in his sleep.

I think I'm going to sig this for now on.

This is funny, but hey if our fans want to be ignorant now that we are actually looking better than we have the last 7 years i say let them be. The fanbases that have the most classless fans are actually the damn teams that are hard as hell to beat at home(LSU for example) I go to every home game and it kills me that BDS doesnt get loud until it's 3rd down.. I expect us to win.. why? Because im a GT fan, if we lose im going to be just as hurt as if i expected us to lose.

"Defending National Champion" doesn't mean anything as a title. It does mean that a significant number of players and the coach on that team have gone as far in NCAA FB as is possible. Got it? Not the title; it's the players.

I doubt anyone else in the thread has actually watched all the LSU games. They simply look at the final scores and the record and say, "How good could they be?"

With the exception of one position the talent on this LSU team is no worse than the one that won the MNC. Even that position has been erratic with flashes of brilliance. (Of course, a stable of talented WRs can sometimes make the worst QB look brilliant.)

LSU lost several games with stupid penalties after the play. The defense had critical stops negated by stupid unsportsmanlike penalties or late hit penalites that had no impact on the play.

So the downfall of LSU this year has been discipline on the field and a seach for someone to replace Perriloux.

If they play with the lack of discipline on defense seen through the season then we will do well. If they are ready for the season to be over then we will do well.

My fear is that they will be just as eager to make a statement for next year as we are and the defense will wake up. My fear is that the light will come on for the freshman QB who did not play except for the last two games.

This game could be a GT blowout, but it could be something else just as easily. I would be much more confident going against Spurrier.

So the key to success is to have classless fans?

Or is this a chicken and egg thing where the classless deluded fans come along with the success?

P.S.
I think the LSU fans who are worried about GT have more in common with GT fans worried about LSU than the "confident" fans on either side. Another thing the concerned fans on both sides have in common is experience and knowledge.

Teams beat the Defending National Champs almost every year. Mad hatter couldn't coach his way out of Nawlins.

Anybody who is not concerned about LSU's defending NC team is indeed a dumb ass. They have had highly rated recruiting teams for years, and these players have proven their ability by winning a NC, and many of them are still, there and want to redeem their disappointing season by kicking our ass. The arrogance of many of our fans appall and disappoint me.

You're not paying attention to the thread at all. Nobody is saying they're not worried about LSU. I'm saying that LSU's status as defending national champions is largely irrelevant to our game against them.

... and many of them are still, there...

This is what I am talking about. It is relevant because they won a NC last year and proven to be able to play on the highest level. I say to not give respect to a team that has many players from a NC team is dumb, and PJ agrees as quoted in the AJC a few days ago. People that post this kind of crap are dumb asses in my opinion. Sorry.

People are giving them respect because of that sort of reason. I don't see who these dumbasses are you're talking about. All that I've seen is people saying that the title itself and the supposed "big game experience" aren't going to mean anything when we play them. Nobody is doubting or questioning their talent or the fact that it's achieved big things before.

It sounds like you may be talking out of both sides of your mouth. You want to say on one hand that you are showing them respect, but on the other hand when talking about the "Defending National Champions" label and big game experience, you say "So".

:laugher: Wow. It's not worth going back over it again. It is sad, however, that you really don't get it.

I should just let this die, but...

7-5 Defending National Champs scares me slightly less than 9-2 Pre-season Number 1.

That being said, only a damn fool takes anyone lightly.

Now... can we agree to switch to shovels so we can start burying this thing?

You can stop being condescending. I get it. You're a dumbass. :D

I'm not the one talking out of two sides of my mouth either. Get it?

Is it still condescending when talking down is a necessity? Read it real slow like and you'll get it soon enough, puddin.

A question arises in my mind over all this. If the phrase "Defending National Champion" has any meaning at all, then why aren't the "Defending National Champions" automatically given the #1 spot in the pre-season?

You don't have to answer this, I already know why. But it raises the point that "Defending National Champions" really doesn't mean jack after 12 games have been played and the current team is 7-5. It would really only carry weight if the team was no worse than 11-1 and playing in the MNC again.
The question in my mind is why is this year's LSU team 7-5 and not up to the standards established by last year's national champions? One point made by an analyst during one of their games, can't remember which one it was, is that while talented this team does not have the playmakers that last years team had. This is particularly true on defense. That coupled with on going quarterback problems is enough to torpedo anyone's repeat hopes. Incidentally, the number of losses by LSU this year is the most of any defending national champ since Georgia Tech in 1991. Personally, I anticipate a close game with defenses dominating.

Jacket, when you just go ahead and accept your role as my internet bitch, it will be a lot easier for you. Look on the bright side:

BOR's internet bitch > Yukon Jacket

That should at least make you feel a little special that you're not the biggest dumbass on the forum. ;)
