CRC pick-up report

I was at the CRC last night and I saw a pretty good game of pick-up ball. Nesbitt, MJ, BeBe, Earrls, and Morgan were on one team. The other team I didn't really know Mike Peterson might have been running with them, they were a couple of guys I recognize as being up there fairly frequently...except for Jeremis!

Sucks to go up to the CRC to run a little pick-up only to discover your are up against a Multi-year ACC-caliber starter at forward. That is unless your name is MJ and you are The Destroyer. MJ was guarding Jeremis so that was actually a pretty good matchup. I think MJ has a little height advantage on JS, meaning JS is probably a couple of inches under his listed height of 6-8. Also MJ probably has longer arms.
Each of them had a few nice jams, but Jeremis really had one liftoff on a fast break that went over a weak attempt at a block for a thunderous throwdown.

Nesbitt's hammy must be feeling better :fingersx:. He had several nice finishing drives to the rack...(although he may have traveled ;) learning from the NBA best... I saw Paul Pierce take 4 steps last night)
BeBe can really play, I saw him drain a few threes with a hand in his face.
Morgan also looked to be quite good not surprising as he is an exceptional athlete.
Overall, a very fun game to watch; MJ's team won, and there was the nominal dunk contest after the game with several nice dunks. Had I stayed AT was coming in to play. Also Jeremis left but Gani showed up and took his spot against MJ.
Thoughts? Similar Experiences? Comments?
 
Awesome report man. I was at the CRC pumping iron last night. Had I know this was going on I would have come up.

CPH needs to start recruiting from our football team.

Haha. He really doesn't. Just because you are big and strong does not mean you are a good basketball player. In fact, recruiting basketball players mainly because they are big, strong, and athletic has been one of the things he has been most criticized for on this forum.

Well, that's better than being criticized for not signing enough to field a team as it stands now.

We have one recruit right now, so I'd say any type of recruit is good.

nothing at all against GTK as I am remaining completely neutral in this feud.

But, this is the first time I have to type this on a forum: LOL, LMAO, ROFLMAO, :laugher::laugher::laugher::D, or whatever else is supposed to mean really funny

Dang man, I'm at work and could hardly contain it to keep from getting looks.

if im not mistaken, MJ was recruited as a TE/DE and was also going to play basketball. Hewitt liked his upside. Jeremis smith is about 6'6-6'7.

In high school being big, strong, and athletic does mean you can play basketball. There have been some cases of guys on a D-1A football team being recruited by the coach to play basketball. I can't remember any of their names right now, but I don't believe they did very well.

IIRC, Greg Paulus was something like a 4-star QB with an offer from Notre Dame when he came out of high school. Imagine that.

If he had played football we would have gems like this.

That might not be what you meant, but that video is great.
 
I would feel better if you were reporting that Dickey was single-handedly destoying a team of MJ, Jeremis and Gani.

I've seen Dickey play a lot of pickup basketball at the CRC. He gives almost no effort and seems content to let others grab rebounds above him or block his shots. Obviously, this is kind of to be expected from a D1 basketball player playing with a bunch of nobodies in a pickup game. The trouble is, it looks startlingly similar to what we see from him on the court at AMC. He has so much talent...hopefully he took this year off to get refocused.
