I was at the '78 Purdue game; a thoroughly miserable game and experience in the rain. Purdue was thrilled to be there - it was their second bowl game in history and GT had no desire to be on the field that Christmas day.

That was the year Tech blew a 20-0 lead over uga, and wound up losing 29-28 when georgie scored a TD right there at the end and converted a two point conversion. Mike Kelley was the Freshman starting QB for Tech. Eddie Lee Ivory got hurt during the game. Pepper Rodgers downfall...

Yeah, I was at that game as well. It was said ELI was injured by a cheap shot.

I also heard the players voted not to accept a bowl bid, but when the Peach Bowl offer came in certain "boosters" "convinced ($$ wink, wink) them to reconsider.
