Cutler for #1 pick?

things are slow here, but Calvin is a GT-man, so I guess I can ask about his QB here:

Is there any chance Lions trade Broncos their #1 pick spot for Cutler? Or some other way? That way they save money and get a decent QB instead of Stafford who 'could be' decent. I really really want this to happen.

Cowherd was talking about this the other day. Seems like it could be a great deal, but why would Cutler want to go from the frying pan into the fire? He might be a better fit in MN. He could take them to a championship.

In the NFL you are not that far off from making the playoffs. Yes Detroit's not very good but a great draft and/or FA signings could get them back quick.

If Denver trades Cutler to Detroit, they're not asking for the #1 pick. They will want Calvin.

If I were the Lions, I would see if I couldn't use pick 20 in the draft to get Cutler, as opposed to number one. They may have to throw in a third or something, I would look at that over the number one overall. Get Cutler + Jason Smith/Eugene Monroe, and the Lions are already looking better.

The Broncos aren't going to get fair market value for Cutler, since its public knowledge he doesn't want to be there and is demanding a trade. If they can get a couple of good picks, say the first two Detroit picks, they should jump on it.

The first two Detroit picks??? That's way more than fair market value. Detroit has the number one overall pick and the number 20 overall pick. I'd say GTSax's scenario is more realistic, and then the lions could use the #1 to take a sure thing with less upside than Stafford, which is what I'm sure they want to do anyway.

They could pull a Dallas Cowboy trade, except keep #1, and give away #20, 2nd and 3rd or 4th. They need to get that big Olineman with number one to protect cutler.

RM, today, if you could go to Minnesota or Detroit, which would you choose? I know things can change (eg: 2008 Falcons), but they can also stay the same (eg: 2000-2008 Lions).

I hadn't thought of this but it seems a lock. Cutler to the Troit, Stafford to da Broncs.

The Lions would have to hang onto Calvin for it to make any sense though.

A lock? Do you have a link?

Stinger, tough call! You won't believe me but we chose Buffalo over Detroit because of at the time it had less snow and Niagara Falls. No S&$%!

I called Hester from the airport in Buffalo and said Detroit has cars and Buffalo has Niagara Falls and we chose Buffalo. Money was the same, both teams coming off Championship games and both lost. But deep down Buffalo felt right. I love Wayne Fontes but just didn't sit well about what they were promising.

I wanted to play, so if today I had to chose I would go too Detroit simply because of the opportunities to start.

Sorry for the ramblings

That is an excellent idea! I think Cutler has tremendous potential. This would be awesome for CJ...anybody remember the Cutler to Marshall tandem of last year? They tore it up.

This would be 100x better than taking a big risk on Stafford...and as a Faclons fan, I'd hate to see Cutler go somewhere like Tampa Bay.
