D coordinator, why not

Pros/Cons of Van Gorder:

Cons:
1. We'd lose the GSU sidewalk fans we gained through Paul Johnson - would their love for PJ override their hatred of Gorder?
2. Flight risk - he's been at three different level in recent years. Counterpoint - He left UGA to be an HC in hopes of moving up to a D1a HC. He left GSU to move up to an NFL DC and to get away from a growing opposition. With Bobby leaving ATL, Gorder will most likely be forced to as well.

Pros:
1. GREAT defensive coordinator. UGA's defenses were killer when he was there.
2. Georgia ties - helps recruiting - hatred from GSU may hurt some - refer back to their love for PJ.
3. It would piss off UGA fans immensely.

I would be all for the hire. The cons are biggies though. Glad I'm not in PJ's shoes on this decision.

Van Gorder left UGA to be LB Coach w/ Jax Jaguars then got the GSU HC job.

I believe Brian Vangorder had a hand in the demise of Mike Sewak- PJ's replacement down at Ga Southern. Plus he scrapped PJ's whole offense.

PJ referred to VanGorder as "the new guy down there" when talking about him at GSU. VanGorder came to GSU and talked down about pretty much everything the school had accomplished in its relatively short football history. He did away with tradtions that made GSU football great, and PJ really didn't like how he handled it.

He's an egomaniac who is truly hated in Statesboro. The players didn't like him. Many have commented that the were afraid to make a mistake. Fact is that he's a very good defensive mind. Too bad he's such an ass.

You would think BVG would understand UGAs offensive philosophies under Richt. He saw it every day.

Remember all those Georgia Southern fans that were buying our merch when we hired CPJ? They'd all be digging for the receipts if we brought Van Gorder in.

I don't want the guy. He's an asshole and probably fits in rather well with the likes of Petrino. Let him go to Arkansas or somewhere else.
