What was roofs team defense ranking over his tenure?

Looks like In 2014 we were 80s

After watching our first nine games AND the Bama-LSU game:

1. We have nothing close to a game-changing lineman
2. We have nothing close to a game-changing LB
3. We have nothing close to a game-changing DB
4. We don’t get much pressure on the QB (but it’s better than last year)
5. We don’t tackle well

We DO:

1. Swarm to the ball OK
2. Blitz fairly effectively
3. Get more TO’s than in years past
4. Have a knack for the timely TFL or QB hurry

After watching our first nine games AND the Bama-LSU game:

1. We have nothing close to their game-changing bagmen
2. We have nothing close to their game-changing alumni/sidewalk support
3. We have nothing close to their game-changing support from the school's administration.
4. We don’t have majors that appeal to NFL bound 17 year olds (but it’s better than it was 40 years ago).
5. We don’t tackle well

Fei might reflect reality better.
2017- 69
2016-94
2015-62
2014-70
2013-77

Fwiw, Georgia state was ranked ahead of us in d for several of those.

yeah, but let's look at their level of competition. does this metric take that into consideration?
2014, we did create a lot of turnovers. Even in the Orange Bowl, Missy State outgained us. But a lot of those yards came when that game was out of reach. And we got two huge turnovers in that game.

Looking at total defense isn’t good for this team because our TOP offense skews this. An average D should be sitting Top 40 every year playing with this offense. YPP is the better stat for us - one in which we’re still struggling. That being said, I’d take this defense over most of the ones we’ve had since ‘08. Felt like we had more TFL yesterday than we did in all of 2017.

Sure seemed like Anree changed the UNC game

@coit I know you are tracking the defense, what have you got so far?

Ha, not really tracking it. I feel like we are getting a slightly higher percentage of 3rd down stops than we did under CTR. And I also feel like we are getting teams into more 3rd and 10+ situations due to more tackles for loss and a few sacks.

We will see this week I guess. Hopefully CMR won’t be throwing screen passes every play.
