Dabo

End of year rankings, record vs top 10 teams, recruiting rankings, etc.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying Dabo makes CPJ look like Ron Prince or anything. Change it to "Dabo has been as successful as CPJ" if it makes you feel better.

How many ACCCG appearances and wins? How many BCS/NY6 bowls? How many National Championships? Get out with the recruiting ranking BS - when Clemson has half the academic prestige and recruiting difficulty as Tech, you can talk about recruiting.

Ok, I'm glad you agree that Dabo's career has been at least as good as CPJ's.

If you only look at Dabo at Clemson and PJ at Tech, then I agree. The difference is, PJ has decades of historic results at every place he's ever been. The difference between PJ and Dabo is that the impressive results PJ has achieved at GT are probably the low point of his career, in terms of exceeding expectations. I love Dabo Swinney but he fell into the perfect situation and would be smart to never leave. PJ probably should have left for Auburn in '08, because he's hitting ceilings here that I don't think he realized were there. He'd be an annual NC contender at Auburn.

Eh, that's kind of like claiming NDSU is as great of a team as Saban's Alabama program. What PJ did at GASO was great, but it doesn't really mean anything once you're at a P5 conference.

I don't disagree with you otherwise. I think PJ is a great coach, one of the best in the country, the best Tech could currently get, and he does a better job here than anyone else could. My rant has more to do with mega butthurt, delusional Tech fans with a false sense of superiority saying that Dabo can't coach, when he has his program fielding teams that play consistently at a level that matches PJ's best teams.

Well then we're in full agreement here. I don't see anything wrong with mocking Dabo's antics (we're rivals, after all), but to deny his success is just dumb. I think there's a pretty good chance that Clemson will end up in the playoff this year, which is something that NEVER EVER EVER would have even come close to happening under anyone since Danny Ford (who cheated).

The dude was literally a real estate agent until 2003, and his only experience before taking over as HC of a high-level FBS program was as WR coach of an underachieving team. That's just absurd. I was in college when he was hired, and the best thing most people could say about him at the time was "at least we can hire him cheap and fire him after 2 years when we have some money built up to hire a real coach".

Perhaps his experience as a real estate agent has helped him as a closer.

Have some coffee Dabo.

I think he has a done a good job, but Clemson isn't the most challenging job IMO.

I think you would have done much better.

It's dumb to be playing chess when everyone's playing checkers. Esp. if your players don't seem to know how to play it.

ööööing PJ won't stop moving his queen out so early. The 5-move-checkmate is a high school move that may work at Georgia Southern but not against P5 teams that can think so much faster.

VT has had the blueprint for years. If he would only start using his rooks, we might stand a chance, but the idiot players can't even execute a simple castling move correctly.
