DADDY DAWG named 27th best coach (LINK)

I know that CrackerJacket writes for them, but I find it hard to take seriously any coaching debate that has Coach Dodd ranked so low. Dooley probably deserves to be in the Top 35, but I find it hard to believe that he is ranked ahead of Dodd in an objective poll.

Is Coach Alexander ranked?
 
I think its hilarious... take away the Herschel years.. and Dooley is a 7 win a year coach... loses half of the SEC Championships Ga won... and the only National Championship... he was a good average coach at best... and take away the early 80's and UGA's program is average... at best.
 
I think what Dooley has done with their sports program in general is more impressive than his coaching abilities. Top women gymnastics, women's basketball, women/men golf, tennis, etc, etc.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">I would argue that he has stumbled into this success. Just like UF has successes b/c of the location of the university.
 
While I am too lazy to actually research this, I would guess that if you take the Erk Russell years out of the equation, Dooleys winning percentage is probably about the same as Oleary without the Fridge. Tech has had 4 head coaches better than Dooley and one assistant better (Spurrier).

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">Take a look at the rankings...they haven't gotten to Dodd yet. He is ranked higher than Dooley. Not that I'm worried about what those imbeciles think anyway.
 
When you think about how many recruiting advantages Dooley had, or could have taken, in Georgia, Florida, and the Carolinas, his record is not so impressive. And when you think of what GOL did at Tech, with so many DISadvantages....

I don't know. He was a good coach with a few great teams scattered about over his tenure. I think he was better than some of us Tech fans give credit. But, I would not put him in the great category by any means. The 80-83 years with Herschel and the one year after Herschel were his best string by far. Outside of that, he was a good coach. It's weird to me how he won 2 SEC titles in his first 5 years and then things kinda fell off for a while. From 69 through 74, he only had one really good team ('71). I wonder why he couldn't keep them up to the level of 66 and 68?
Anyway...Dodd was better, I thought.
