about him having a candidate he is ready to move so quickly on?

Geez, no Gailey fan here on a scale of 1 to 10, he is at most a 6 in my book. While there is upside potential here I see just as much downside potential.

We need the very best possible candidates for the job.

I think our search committee (whoever they are) needs to carefully interview a big handful of candidates and move carefully.

We cannot afford to blow this one.

I have faith that Rad has at least three good candidates that any of us would love to see on the Flats.

Faith is a wonderful thing, but I'm not sure what yours is grounded upon...

Why would anyone have "faith" in a brand new AD? Wouldn't place my money in his hands without facts.

Word is that Jimbo was in Atlanta recently. I think DRad has been working behind the scenes during this ordeal to have a definite play if/when Chan leaves.

I agree...

Fisher may be he next Petrino for all we know; but he also might be the next BL.

In fact, I think Fisher's offensive stats look fairly pedestrian other than a couple of good years. The problem is that pedestrian looks good to us now.

DRAD's really done nothing for me so far. I don't understand the fascination with him. I think in most people's mind, his best attribute is that he's not Dave Braine. At least Braine answered the mail. DRAD hasn't responded to an e-mail I sent him last summer.

I think we need to get this right. If we lose a few recruits - that's life. Hiring the right coach is bigger than one class of recruits. If we hire the wrong guy, he might just waste them anyway.

But it's all speculation - I haven't heard that Gailey is gone anyway.

All ADs have a list, waiting for something to happen. Its the responsible thing to do. What if CCG (or any of our other coaches) were to get hit by a bus, lured to professional league, etc. Be prepared for it, and hope you never have to use it.

Good point. I don't know if he'd hire one within five seconds, but it's good that he has some candidates lined up.

By the way, I like the picture, 71. You been chasin' down Ernest T. Bass lately?

Fisher's stats look good considering the level of defense in the SEC. Look at the top teams in offensive stats and you'll typically see mid-majors such as Navy, Hawaii and Rice.

I just hope this list has more than one name on it....

Any AD worth their salt has in their pocket at all times a list of at least 4-5 potential head coaches for football and basketball. Not "gee, I sure would like to have this guy" but 4-5 names that are likely/probable/would be worth pursuing to fill a sudden vacancy. I, too, have faith in DRad as a good AD, and I think he would do a great job finding a replacement for CCG, if the need should arise.
I would really like to have Jimbo, especially if we can keep Tenuta.

Yep, a good AD always has to have a plan in place, a good plan ready to be acted opon the moment the hint of something like this develops.

Everytime I post.....

There is already a list...the candidates have already discussed about the potential job...Drad knows how to run things!

Gailey is absolutely not a 9, but definitely at least a 7.

He is a 1 at selecting/managing/coaching starting QBs. He has been a 5 in recruiting up until this year, this year more like a 10. He is about a 7 in most other areas.

Giff Smith quote: " The recruiting system here was in shambles when I got here"

At LSU, Dan Radakovich had football, men's basketball, and baseball directly report to him as the Assistant AD. They won NC in football, Final Four in basketball, and went to college World Series in baseball. I rest my case- I have no worries about Dan Radakovich.

I too am very nervous, I want the best for GT and truly hope if Gailey is gone we get a top notch coach. I am also very nervous about losing some of our recruits. We have to keep Tenuta and Giff Smith, Period!!!!
