David Hale unit Rankings

There must be some gnarly DB units in the ACC for Tech to be last. That’s an easy pic for best position group on the team entering fall camp (other than ST). We should be big, fast, and reasonably experienced there with some decent depth.

We have a lot of highly rated guys at LB that will be SO/JRs this year. I don’t expect to be terrible there.

DL is tough. If we had Adams and Clayton eligible I think we’d be upper half. Without Adams it’s lower half. Without Clayton it might be last.

I understand why they put us last at QB/WR but we won’t end up there.

Every prognosticator I have heard says if we get to 3 wins this year it will be a miracle.

I think it's horseshit.

QB/WR is understandable, but we have some studs there and will be fine.

OL might hurt, but we are already bigger and longer and have better coaching.

DB and RB rankings are a joke.

But this is just David Hale, big whoop.

8 wins.

Ratings/rankings by a single individual are just one person’s opinion. He can’t possibly know all the personnel very well for every team in the ACC.

Brent Key is no mystery, but we have several coaches that really have no resume to speak of. I think that bodes well for us. I don't see how anyone is qualified to say Tashard Choice or Marco Coleman are lesser coaches than their counterparts at half a dozen programs. But that is essentially what has been done here. There is no justification for placing us last or next to last in almost every category. Some of this is a hangover from the Minnesota debacle, and I guess rightly so. Many of our current players are non starters from a team that looked terrible in the bowl game. But I repeat, we have some athletes, and now they will be coached differently (better?). I believe so.

I can see the argument for QB and WR, just from lack of experience, even though I suspect both may surprise a lot of people. To have us last at DB is absurd.

DB is nuts.

We've recruited this position well. We have some studs and we have some experience.

2019:
2 5.7 3 stars (#34 and #58 in country)
1 5.6 3 star
1 5.5 3 star

2018:
1 5.8 4 star . (#24 in the country)
1 5.6 3 star . (#43 in the country)
1 . 5.5 3 star . <-- Juanyeh

2017:
3 5.8 4 star (#29, #31, and #31 in the country)
1 5.7 3 star (#47 in the country)
1 5.5 3 star

This has to put us in the top half of the ACC in DB recruiting. We have a HC who is known as being a great DB coach.

Dumb dumb dumb

The only thing I can think of is that he looked only at our passing defense stats, but it doesn't take much to see this was a scheme/coaching issue, plus the lack of pass rush.

Reminds me of Wes Durham's call when Nesbitt took a knee for the final play in Athens in '08.

"They were projected to finish three and nine. Now they've got a case of the nine and threes."

Hope we can do it again (although this time, of course, in Atlanta).

Here’s one who thinks we win more than 5.....

Kinda tl;dr so here’s the rub
Set The Regular Season Win Total At … 6
Even so, football is football. The players will be okay in time, the coaching staff is terrific,

It was already hard to take these ratings seriously, but damn near impossible after reading this:

This is the dumbest chart. Just someone who thinks Tech recruited subpar athletes and we happened to win because of Johnson's system

We have decent/good football players. Definitely not bottom of the conference
