Who has more potential at qb? That is assuming Sims stays at qb. Other schools wanted him at rb, olb, cb,s. So he is very athletic. Luallen runs a offense similar to the option. They both have good arms. Luallen is probably a better passer. But given time I think sims will be the better of the two.

I like the athleticism and speed that Sims brings to the table but I also like the leadership and intangibles that Luallen brings. I also like his ability to let the ball fly.

I think we are going to be in good shape with both guys.

I just like the fact that we'll not be stuck starting a true freshman for at least as far as the eye can see.

The real improvement in QB play, that these guys will
bring, will be because of the improvement of the OL
by the time they get to play. RS these guys, let them
learn the offense, but by then our OL would have had
time to improve also.

Our season depends on the improvement of our OL
play in CPJ's system. Our 9 wins in 08 is just a pure
testament to the will of CPJ's persona.

Guys, he's asking who will be better out of the two given time.

Not about the OL or what we hope to see at the QB position.

Just who do we project will be better in a few years. Who has more potential. We're talking individually here.

:)

Well, Jordan (I can never spell his last name correctly) is a QB all the way. Sims might play other positions. It will all play out on the practice field but I think we've got a couple of good ones in both of these guys. Possibly even better than what we have on the field right now.

Even though David Sims brings more to the table athletically, I think(and hope) that Jordan Luallen becomes the better of the two. The way he stepped up during recruitment showed what kind of leader he can be. He has all the intangibles that are needed in a championship caliber QB. I guess he would just be more of a sentimental favorite now, but if David Sims steps up and becomes something special, I will definitely not be complaining and will cheer him on all the way.

In my opinion I think either of these two will eventually surpass what we have now. Right now I have a gut instinct that Luallen will be the starter and it is based a lot on the intangibles he's shown. Also, that fact that Sims could play other positions and Luallen can't should be the cause of extra motivation for him.

And my reply was saying in so many words that I don't care which one is better - one of them will be

There's always a "none of the above" or "both of the above" option on standardized tests

Well, I think Josh will surpass what we saw last season so I'm not so quick to assume someone who hasn't played a down in college will be better. Also I don't think motivation will matter at all in this. The best player will play, and wanting it more is a great thought, but it will come down to athletic ability.

I agree.

Nesbitt now has a year under his belt and if the OL can come together, he will be a true option stud.

When he leaves, however, we will have QBs to choose from. Competition is almost always a positive and the cream will rise to the top. I happen to think it will be Jordan.

Let's not forget that Josh was the 8th ranked QB in the 2006 class. These guys were both in the 20s.

I personally think Sims will be the better option QB. Luallen will be the better passer IMO, but Sims is so quick and I think he'll be a beast running the option. If we pass about the same amount as we did this past season, Sims will be the better QB. If we actually work more passing into the system, Luallen will be better.

Well, if your assessment of the two is correct, I suspect that means it will be Luallen. PJ will definitely pass more if we can do it.

Why does everyone assume great athletes can't have leadership or great intangibles? The 2 aren't mutally exclusive.

BTW. Luallen is a good athlete also. He reminded me of a shorter Vince Young when running. It looks like he is jogging yet, no one is catching up.

To answer the question: Luallen has more potential at QB. Sims more potential for impact (QB/B-Back/A-Back/CB/Safety) somewhere.

I don't think anyone is saying Sims doesn't have the intangibles it's just that we saw Jordan's at work with being the spokesman for the class. The coaches also mentioned they liked his maturity and leadership at NSD. DS I'm sure is a good leader too, most successful QB's are to some extent, we just haven't had a chance to see it yet. I think it's a toss-up between the 2. There's no telling who'll take to the system better.

Sims

However, this is purely based on high school highlight tapes. And for those of you that say Luallen is a better passer, please WATCH both players film. There is nothing on either players film that says Luallen is a better passer than Sims.

Exactly... Couldn't have said it better myself.
