Doug Roberson of the AJC:

"They got those stops because defensive coordinator Dave Wommack changed from a 4-3-4 to a 3-3-5 and then again to a 5-man front that included moving Derrick Morgan around. The result was the Jackets were able to limit FSU quarterback Christian Ponder and company to 136 yards in the final two quarters."

Of course when you fix a problem you created then I'm not sure how much credit you are supposed to get or how much less blame you are supposed to get.

Better the person who can see he ****ed up and try to fix it than the person who doesn't even know somethings wrong.

Personally, I think we probably could do worse than Dave Wommack.

Wow... Everyone screws up.
someone who is good fixes their screwups. Too many people completely ignore them...

That is why I have faith in Wommack. He fixes his messes. Unlike Tenuta.

Btw, if Tenuta was coaching this team, we would have got lit up worse than right now... Just go back to the BC game with Matt Ryan... The ACC offenses are much better this year, and the QBs are much better too.

I don't agree... and I am not one of the guys that have wanted Tenuta back. Tenuta's D's had times when they looked extremely bad but most of those times were when the GT O couldn't score in a whorehouse. BC beat us 24-10 that year.

While the Defense did step it up a bit in the 4th Quarter, the Offense gets the credit for stopping Ponder by keeping him off the field.

Please don't try to give Wommack any credit because he deserves none. I can scheme better than this man. He has to go or PJ won't last for too long

FSU stopped themselves with several dropped passes....not Wommack's wonderful defensive scheming.

The first half was the worst defensive performance in 117 yrs of GT football. Ponder was 18-21 4 TD's and 250 yrds. Overall a 400 yrd half.

BC's, SF, Jack St defense had no problem stopping FSU's offense.

The second half our offense kept the ball away from FSU's offense and they dropped several key passes. That is what stopped FSU's offense.

But they dropped those passes and ran into each other on other plays because we tired them out making them carry that heavy football back and forth up and down the field all the first half.

That's startegy right thar!

Yeah, maybe Heather Dinich

Lay it out then. Let's see the evidence of your football mastery. You're now suggesting that your football knowledge exceeds PJ's? Give me a break.

Man, you've got a pretty short rope for coaches, don't you?

We're 5-1 and we can have all the offensive shootouts in the world if we keep winning games. Saying "or PJ won't last too long" when we're 5-1 is absurd.

I do give Wommack credit for the second half, even if the first WAS the worst defensive performance I have ever seen at any level by any team. Hopefully we can put a full game together against VT.

I say given his Portfolio so far, P.J. will be given a little more leeway than Gailey was. Gailey merely maintained. P.J. is going to thrive in Atlanta. If he feels that we need a change with or coordinators or our position coaches, I feel that he will make those changes as necessary. I am also not the least bit concerned about having a possible drop off in 2011, we will have guys trained up to take leadership positions on our team.

Everyone just needs to think before they type and not get over emotional. We do not want to sound like Georgie fans do we?

how is he suggesting that? PJ doesn't make defensive calls
"he has to go for PJ to last long"? He's also suggesting that he can scheme defenses better than PJ's choice as DC. As everyone used to say about Chan, everything is the responsibility of the HC. You can't have it both ways. I'm sure PJ will make a decision about Wommack and the D coaches after the season is over. But some of the comments flying around are simply stupid.

PJ is the CEO. He decides who to entrust to make the calls. If the defensive coordinator is not getting the job done then ultimately it is PJ's fault. When Auburn's offensive coordinator for TT put in a spread offense that failed TT (and the whole crew) got the axe. I think PJ is a great coach and he will take steps to correct our defensive problems; be it either players or coaches.

The main reason for the defensive improvement in the second half was the ball control of our offense. The changes made by the D were good ones, however. And, it helped to get in front - then FSU started to press.

Wommack ain't great, but he does deserve credit when he does stuff right, and our defense majorly stepped up in the 2nd half of that game. FSU was on track to gain over 800 yards at half time, and only managed 150 in the 2nd half.
